“I wish I lived here.. or at least wish there were more of these in the world.”

I stayed at the Witt for 4 nights as part of my honeymoon and this is hands down the BEST HOTEL I HAVE EVER STAYED AT in my entire life. From the location to the decor to the staff to the service, the showers, the breakfast... everything was incredible.

After seeing its website I had been highly anticipating our stay - usually such high expectations aren't good but the Witt actually exceeded our expectations. I will definitely be back if I'm in Istanbul again.

The only negative thing I would have to say, is that it's on a very steep road if you're coming from Tophane tram station. It's about a 2 minute walk up. If you don't want to hack it, do what we did and hail a cab for 2.5 lira from the bottom of the road :P

I'm not posting any of my own pictures because the ones on their website are what the rooms really look like. http://www.wittistanbul.com

“An excellent hideaway, top quality, and well placed for the sights.”

Witt Istanbul Suites is very well hidden, tucked away in a sidestreet, between Taksim Square and the Galata Bridge which leads you to the tourist spots. We arrived in Taksim late in the evening in a thunderstorm (yes it does rain sometimes!), and got lost trying to find the Witt. We did eventually find it, thanks to 2 friendly police officers, who took pity on our bedraggled appearance, and gave us a lift.

The apartments are on 6 floors (get the top floor if possible for a view over the Bosphorus), and we were on the 4th. It was open and spacious, and had a small balcony, which if you opened the double doors, gave an excellent view over the city. There is no cooking facilities, just a microwave, fridge, and sink, with an assortment of cutlery & crockery. The bathroom was roomy, and the shower had 2 settings (single head standard, and multi-head on the ceiling).

Breakfast was from 7.00 - 11.00, so plenty of time to get over the 2 hour difference, and was buffet style, with a turkish slant - very nice.

Top tip is to get the Bosphorus ferry, which takes you from west to east and back several times, travelling the length of the Bosphorus, and ending just at the mouth of the Black Sea, on the east side. The ferry waits there 2 hours, giving you time to walk around, or eat (not enough time for both), and then retraces it's steps. All for 25 Lira (about £11). Otherwise, if you get the "Bosphorus Cruise" for 10 Lira, it only takes you 1/3 of the way up, and doesn't stop - avoid it at all costs.

We visited Topkapi Palace (visiting the Harem is a must), and the Blue Mosque (which is free). Don't take the open top bus tour, as the commentary is poor, and the experience is not good value for money.

Evenings walking along the pedestrianised Istiklal Caddesi were great, with so many sidestreets off, containing bars & restaurants. We were spoiled for choice.

Altogether an excellent visit, and we would certainly stay at the Witt, should we find ourselves in Istanbul again.

“Stylish, great location, friendly and helpful staff”

We had a seaview room which was a little short on seaviews but you could get a good glimpse of the Bosphorous and the Galata Tower. The room was spacious, stylish and well equipped. An additional bed was placed in the room for our 5 year old daughter and there was still plenty of room. The kitchenette was a bonus for preparing some simple snacks. The hotel is well located for exploring the Beyogulu area. Nearby attractions include Istanbul Modern (art museum) and the Dolmache Palace. A tram stop is a short walk down a steep hill and two stops from the action on the other side of the Galata Bridge. The young staff were very friendly and helpful (thanks Onur). The breakfast spread was first class although I question why cappucino and orange juice is additional and pricey (they are included every else we stayed). A great alternative to staying in the very touristy Sultanahmet. The room was very quiet except for the call to prayer!

We had 4 nights at the Witt and stayed again for a night when we returned to Istanbul. Aykut and Jan, in particular, were very friendly and helpful and contributed to a memorable stay in Istanbul. The beds are fantastic and the rooms stylish and comfortable. Location was great for sightseeing and nightlife. Would recommend to anyone
