“Excellent value and location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2014

I stayed here on my last night in Colombo, heading in from Kandy & out from the airport. The hotel was excellent for my needs. Close enough to walk from Fort Rail Station & near the bus station to head up to Negombo (100rp fare!). The surrounding areas were full of a variety of food outlets to suit all tastes (TG Fridays next door, Dutch Hospital food court etc.) Sri Lankan restaurants around, The rooms were clean, I agree with previous postings that free WiFi could have been offered.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front are noisy BUT the air con masks the noise.

This is the last place I stayed during my two week Sri Lanka trip and it was the most expensive one and worst experience. The staff is not just unfriendly, but also arrogant and not helpful. It was the only place without free wifi, and the only place that had cockroaches in the room... I told the staff and they wouldn't even apologize just asked for details where I saw the cockroaches...
Furthermore, to order a taxi, they charge a big amount (700 rupees) -- just for one phone call!!
Location is good, but that's about the only advantage...
NOT RECOMMENDED at all.

After reading some poor reviews, was anxious before our stay. Needn't have been and was pleasantly surprised. Great service from all staff. We booked a deluxe room and it was a reasonable size and all very clean. Rooftop terrace a great spot for a light snack (food is fine and again great service - topped off with great 3 Coins Lager on draught!). We had an early check out the next day for train south, but hotel provided us an extensive take away breakfast, that lasted almost all our way to Mirissa. Location is great near Dutch Hospital shops and restaurants, and 2 minutes by tuk tuk to Fort train station. Highly recommend for brief stay in Colombo.

Room Tip: Go for a deluxe and we asked for a quiet room - got 4th floor with tiny balocny overlooking main str...

The place is quite noisy and crammed. The hotel is clean and the service decent, but the rooms are small and the road outside is very noisy. It is quite pricy for what it is. The rooftop restaurant has a good view, but the food is not very good.

We had an average one night stay at this hotel on the last day before we took the flight out of Sri Lanka. A big plus is that the hotel is centrally located and is in walking distance to the seaside. There are also lots of shopping areas and restaurants nearby. The standard of room was not worth the price that we were being charged and even wifi is charged extra. It is fine for 1 or 2 nights stay just for the superb location but not at all recommended for long stays

I stayed in this hotel for six nights and every effort was made by the staff to make sure my stay was as comfortable as possible. My first room was not suitable and A/C did not work so I was immediately moved to a much more spacious and well-decorated room which over-looked the street. The room in itself was more than ample (and comfortable) for my needs and linen was clean and pristine. I had more than sufficient towels and toiletries provided during my stay. I had a fridge, safe, wardrobes, television and all worked efficiently. The sockets took regular 13amp plugs. There was a huge problem with noise though - not only from the outside street but also from the downstairs area which seemed to encourage loud music until the early hours, so if you are a light sleeper, this could be a problem - it was for me. The french windows were difficult to manoeuvre and not suitably glazed. Breakfast was ample (and tasty) and there was sufficient choice to suit every taste. Some breakfasts were cooked fresh and care was taken with presentation. I would have liked more really fresh fruit to be available. All the staff were helpful and courteous.

We checked in late and superbly tired. Went into the room to only find 2 bed instead of triple sharing.they assured that the extra bed would be set up immediately. it took a whole 30minutes for them to come check.. Mind you.. Without the extra bed.. And it took another 15minutes for the bed to arrive. When we lodged a complaint, all they could say was that they wanted to give us a room with a better view. No apologies whatsoever!! Even then, the room should be ready before the guests check in!! The rooftop restaurant was plain shabby with limited food choices (nothing to brag about.. Plain boring).. The front desk personnel were rude and would find all sorts of excuses to push the responsibility away.. Short to say, I had expected lots more as it's situated around the many other better hotels. Utterly disappointed!!!
