“unique eating experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

My son had been here for a meal and fell in love with the ambience, the old colonial feel.
Family photos and history is everywhere, the gardens, the lounge, the resturant.
We engaged them for a grand meal for our guests and even the natives were in awe of the beautiful decor. The chef russelled up a menu to suit every taste bud. Got to see to believe. Go for a drink, a bite or a grand meal, just enjoy this fantastic experience!

Room Tip: Very good for that special treat.

We stayed here for the last night of our Sri Lanka tour and would have liked to explore Columbo if we'd had another night & more time. The hotel is an absolute oasis in the centre of a nice but busy area. No noise, beautifully designed with wonderful & HUGE bedrooms & bathrooms. The restaurant is fantastic with inside or outside dining & the food european, mediteraean mix or local, all were very tasty and beatifully presentedand. It's only 30 mins to the airport and took the hassle out of a long early morning transfer from the south. The Staff were very friendly and efficient and we would definitely return...thanks Park Street !

Room Tip: Spend a bit more time there if you can

What a find. Quiet, huge rooms, friendly staff, great service, nice location. I loved that it was small -- it meant I usually had the pool to myself or maybe one other person. This was one of our favourite places in Sri Lanka and I would definitely stay again. I didn't mind the dark room - it kept it cool and we did not spend much time in the room anyway except to sleep. We were either sitting outside by the pool - eating, drinking or lounging - or we were off shopping or sight seeing

We stayed here for our first night in Sri Lanka.
The positives:
- the rooms are large, the beds comfortable, the bathroom (especially the shower) well done. (although there is a sliding door between the room and the bathroom which might bother some people who prefer more privacy).
- The rooms are dark - but that helps to keep them cool and, for my taste at least, fits in with the overall tropical feel.
- the hotel is well-located to visit the key sights in Colombo
- the staff were helpful - went out of their way to give us an early (very early) check-in which was really appreciated after a long flight
The only real negative that I could find is that the breakfast was poor compared to other buffets we had later in our trip to Sri Lanka.
I'd certainly recommend this as an excellent place to get your first feeling for and footing in Colombo.

This was the find of our trip.

Positives
1 - Fantastically large and generally well provided rooms
2 - A well sized pool that attracts sun at all time of the day and is well temperature controlled
3 - Friendly and attentive staff that help
4 - A great location
5 - well designed and well furnished

Negatives
1 - Lighting could be better in the rooms esp around the mirror
2 - Breakfast rather than buffet could be on a per order basis - i say this more as a suggestion to the hotel as what provided was good but would be better if bespoke
3 - The daily cleaning although fine could have had a little more common sense applied - remove the unmade coffee after day 2 and pick up the bath robe but these are minor complaints

Overall, from all the hotels we had visited in Sri Lanka this definitely ranked No 1 and is a firm recommendation to all

Room Tip: All rooms (ex the 2 suites) are the same and are excellent

We stayed at this boutique hotel on the final days of our holiday, and we relished the comfort and excellent service that was provided. The hotel has integrated modern, very spacious, beautifully decorated rooms seamlessly into the original colonial mansion.
Staff at the restaurant were very efficient and accommodating, and provided very enjoyable meals in a poolside setting. The manager was most helpful in organising transport, and arranging breakfast packs for our early morning departure.
The neighbouring Gallery Restaurant is a great place to go for good food in an arty setting.

We are regular visitors to Colombo and decided to try this boutique hotel with an old colonial building at its centre. Our bedroom was spacious and well appointed but on the dark side.

The good location and impressive building was really let down by poor: value for money, food and service.

Essentially, it is expensive for what you get when compared against the competition. There are many better places to stay and eat in Colombo.
