“Mad max walk to it”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2014

The church is old - true.
There are some very old grave stones which are interesting.
The church itself, though old, is basic.

The walk there was horrendous. Say no more

“Interesting and unusual 18th century building”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2013

Wolfendal Church was the main church of Dutch colonial Ceylon. In addition to a 19th century organ, original church furniture and a great number of fascinating tomb stones it also keeps extraordinary Church silver dishes and bowls, some of them 17th century. It is a quiet place in an otherwise noisy area, and when you happen to be there during divine service it is a memorable visit!

“Interesting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2013

We had a driver and car for 4 hours and he brought us to this church.
The very elderly caretaker took around and explained the history of the church which was very interesting. There were quite a few young people practising their hymns for the service the next day as it is a working church. It is a shame they obviously don't have the finances to upkeep the church.....it could do with a good paint. Nevertheless, it is still worth a visit as it is part of the history of Colombo!

“Not worth a detour”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2013

There is not much to see in this small Dutch church. It's not very well maintained, it's almost colourless - maybe If you are a strong believer it's worth a visit, but not If you are an ordinary busy tourist with a tight scedule. Skip it!

“Interesting History”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

This is a working church and not designed for tourists. The history and architecture of this Dutch church make it worth the visit. After entering, a church warden showed me around and described the features. He doesn't expect a tip, but a donation into the church offering box is appreciated.
