“Comfortable place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. The room was clean, serviced daily and comfortable. The hotel is located just outside the main city centre and within walking distance or a short tuk tuk ride. The hotel overlooks the Mekong which is great. Ask for a room at the front if you can, just for the river view. The traffic was minimal and we didnt notice it.

The owner and staff were very helpful and attentive to our needs. One of the biggest winners was the bar/restaurant next door. Great staff, fabulous food and well priced. The hotel uses this restaurant for hotel guests to be served breakfast.

The roadworks mentioned in other reviews have long since finished it seems.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front overlook the river. Traffic noise was extremely minimal.

This hotel has nicely decorated rooms. Immediately we felt comfortable. The owner, Gordon, was very helpful to ;locate Vientiane's attractions. If you are lucky, you get rooms overlooking the Mekong (202- 203). But garden view is equally nice. A few meters walking distance in the back of the hotel is the Papaya Spa.

Room Tip: Rooms 202 and 203 overlook the Mekong, same on 3rd floor.

This hotel is unique and refreshing compared with other international hotels. The moment you got through the front door, right at the far end would be where Gordon, the owner sat. That's where you checked-in and as you turned around, on the left-side, there were shoes rack to place your shoes. That's respectful of Laos culture, of not wearing shoes into someone's house. At halfway point of the long shape hotel, there would be stairs leading to your rooms. The staircase is also unique in a way that it branches off in different directions to lead to different rooms, as if you are stepping on top of the tree foliage of the trees. Upon entering the room (mine anyway), to much my amazement, I was facing the magnificent Mekong River. It was late when I checked in and it was amazing to see the crescent moon lingering low by the water & the reflection of buildings across the river, which I was told later was Thailand! The river is forever changing & I was mesmerised by the scenic view. The orientation of the room was towards the river. It's like attending a class. Instead of facing the blackboard, we are facing the river instead. You have everything you need in the room & that the shower cubicle is for all to see. If you were to travel with your buddy, then, you need to be mindful that another may have to leave the room as the other one is having a shower or taking a shower together! The Spirit House next door serves great cocktail (even has Happy Hours in the evening) and fabulous food. Wi-fi is erratic but it may do. It's well-priced, well-located and secured. There's a security person sitting by the door from late evening onwards. There's a on-site dog too, which brought a humane element to this unpretentious and family run hotel & restaurant. HIghly recommended.

This hotel stands out from the rest for its attention to detail and excellent customer service.
It is in a fantastic location on the banks of the mighty Mekong, close to the Night Market and main Ventiane attractions. Rooms are pristine and quirkily arranged and decorated. Friendly staff gave out the free WiFi codes and a local map as part of the check in process, contrasting significantly from some other hotels we have stayed in in this region.
Gordon, the Australian owner, is full of interesting stories, and he and his staff work really hard to make your stay an interesting and enjoyable one.
Our only very slight criticisms were that the bed was very firm (although this is standard for this part of the world!) and the a/c had seen better days so the thermostat didn’t seem to work very well and room took a while to cool down and got a bit chilly in the night. This was more than made up for by the warm welcome, clean rooms and waking up to the most amazing views over the river which looks like mercury at dawn and dusk.
Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Ask for one at the front overlooking the river.

We stayed for 2 nights in an upstairs room overlooking the Mekong. The view of the river and Thailand across the river was great. The room has all the amenities and is very clean. The layout of the room is funky. Breakfast is served in the adjacent restaurant and was good. Gordon, the Australian guy who runs the place is very friendly and informative. Sure the place is a little out of town, but Vientiene is not big and the hotel has free bike hire. The traffic isn't bad so getting around is easy.

i have stayed here three times - Beau Rivage is so tastefully decorated and an oasis on the river. The rooms are large, especially the ones facing the river. Pity it is impossible to adjust the aircon airflow if you are sensitive to drafts - it hits you in the face when lying in bed. you can only switch it off or adjust the temperature.

Room Tip: the hotel provides bicycles to take free of charge - great to teach the center of town in no time. s...

Had two nights at this hotel after moving from another not so nice one. The owner, an Australian called Gordon has been here for quite a few years and very knowledgable on where to go and how to get there. All the staff were very friendly including great staff in the Spirit House.
I
The rooms are large and spotless with coffee and tea making facilities, even had fresh milk, extra plates, wine glasses etc. showers are good as is aircon, plus a fan.
Next door is the Spirit House restaurant where you have breakfast with a great view of the Mekong. We ate evening meals here also as the food was fresh and well priced.
