My husband and I went to the Papaya Spa in April 2008 for 90min massages. The spa is located on a residential street in Vientiane in a quaint house. The surroundings are very relaxed and colorful; there is a strong backpacker feel to the place. The treatment rooms are in the back of the house in a courtyard and it was quite charming. The treatment room itself is decorated nicely, though the decor seems a bit faded and old. The AC (which is important in VTE!) is outdated and only works on one half of the room, which can cause one person to freeze and the other to sweat.
The masseuses are trained and did a decent job. It was not the best massage of my life, but not the worst either. The price was average (I can't remember, but maybe it was $20-30 for 90minutes).
Overall, if you are in need of a massage while in VTE, this is a decent place to go.
