“Good little budget place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013

Have stayed here on 3 of my visits to Vientiane over the years. I love the area it is in - the northern part of the city - sort of Vientiane suburbia. Nice quiet area. Walking distance to main markets (plus a good local market & food in Asean Road heading west), Patuxay (the Victory Monument) & the city centre (but if you don't like walking, just get a taxi or tuk tuk). Vientiane is such a compact city, it is great for walking whilst doing any exploring or sightseeing. Pool is great after a hot & dusty day of walking & a relaxing spot for a couple of drinks in the evening or breakfast in the morning. Some of the rooms need a bit of work, but they are a good size & comfortable for this type of place. Have always found the staff to be extremely helpful in any situation. I have stayed in a LOT of budget guest houses in SE Asia and whilst this is certainly not 5 Stars, it is definitely better than most.

Far from the river, the second we went in our room it smelled horribly of mildew and mold. Bathroom was dirty and stains on ceiling and walls. I wouldn't get in that pool if you paid me. The real disapointment at this place was the lady running it. I first past off the attitude due to the language barrier but by the end it was clear that she didn't like me. My girlfriend and I asked for her to call a cab to get us the airport and said she would take us herself. After taking care of several customers which I completely understand she to have a sitdown meeting with three asian businessmen who showed up with some blueprints for her to look at. They were clearly talking about me but she was not concerned that I was now going to be late for my plane. She wouldn't call anyone for us and it's not the part of town tuk tuks are going by all the time. We eventually just left and walked into to town and got a tuk tuk. Terrible first impression for laos for me but was my only bad experience of my 3 day holiday. Don't stay here they are much better places down by the mekong.

This hotel was disapointing for us. It's definitely not worth the 15 dollars. The rooms were not clean, the swimming pool was dirty, the wifi did not work, there's noise and the rooms were old and shabby. We made a reservation for three nights, but we left after one night. Fortunately the receptionist did not charge us for the other two nights.

I was pretty happy with this find - value for money, with a refreshing good-sized pool, AC and private bathrooms, not far from the heart of Vientiane.

Don't come here expecting anything new or luxurious, but if relief from the heat in the pool and AC is what ur after at a decent price, I'd say give Villa Sisavad a try.

I stayed 2 nights and was more than happy.

I'm quite disappointed with this GH after having decided for it based on the previous reviews.
Room is dark, damp and had seen better days. Lot of mosquitoes.
Ok there is a pool but this is not enough to make a good stay.
Wifi is weak but look like it is the case in many places in Laos.
Breakfast is US$3 per head which makes the overall stay expensive compare to similar GH in Vientiane.
Location is not very good without a bicycle but you can find street food at walking distance.

Stayed here for 3 nights.

Staff does not speak/understand English.

Wifi is very very slow, but free.

It's 2km from downtown so be prepared to walk a lot, it's hard to get a tuktik from here.

I enjoyed my stay in this friendly family run hotel. it is great value, better than any others I heard of, it's position is away from tourist area which I like, the pool was wonderful every afternoon. the breakfasts are good, and I would recommend it to those who don't demand super cleanliness, but just want to have a relaxing time and a pool.
