I stayed at Sihome twice and enjoyed both my stays. It's a nice place, great for meeting new people. The free breakfast is good and the showers are fantastic. The staff are friendly and helpful. I got off a sleeper bus and arrived at 6:00 am and was allowed to check in early.
Negatives are that the bathrooms need to be cleaned more often. There are only two toilets and three showers upstairs for all of the dorm rooms to share so they get a lot of use. The only other downside of Sihome is that there is a karaoke bar or a club next door that plays very loud music late into the night.
Side note, the bus tickets that they sell at Sihome are considerably higher. I paid 160,00 kip to go from Luang Prabang and they were charging 220,000. Same with my ticket to Pakse, I went to a different travel agent and paid 160,00 when Sihome was charging 200,000 for the same ticket. It's definitely worth walking around the side streets near the night market for a cheaper ticket.
