“Best Mexican food I've ever tasted in Asia”

It was my first time tasting Mexican food that had the right ingredients and taste. Food presentation, ambience and presence of staff was great.

“always great quality and service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2014

When your tummy tells your mind: "Please give no more thai and lao food!" - This is the place to go!
As a longtime customer of Ban Gai,
here are my favourite dishes:

Enchilada, Quesadilla, sizzling Fajitas and of course the famous UFO!
You can also call for takeaway. See you soon ;)

“Great food, decent prices, friendly service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2014

A good expat hang out with cold beer and good Mexican food. I often eat here at lunch with friends, or in the evening with my kids. Either way, the food is always good and you never leave hungry.

“Tex-Mex misses the mark”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2014

Have tried several of the Tex-Mex dishes. The sauces (taco, burrito, enchilada) aren't correct and most of the key ingredients (sour cream, cheese, salsa, pico de gallo) are missing. As a result, the food is not very spicy.

On the plus side, the place is quiet (no TV or music) and the service is fairly good.

“Surprisingly Good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2014

Being raised on Mexican food in the US, I've become less than optimistic about it in SE Asia. I've found one good restaurant in Bangkok and now one in Vientiane. My test food is cheese enchiladas, as mundane as that sounds. These were different. Rather that a harder cheese like cheddar or monterrey jack, these used something like a chile con queso dip. However, the taste was excellent and the tortilla in the enchilada was just right. The salsas were homemade and the fiery salsa was very good.

The also specialize in hamburgers and have a good assortment on the menu. I will have to try one the next time I'm there.

The bad news is that the owner, who is very conscientious about her cooking (her husband is American and she goes to Colorado frequently), has got the restaurant on the market. She insists she will stay around to work with the new owner so that the tradition continues. I hope so.
