“The best indian food in Vientiane !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2012

You are looking for a peaceful place in the centre of Vientiane, a place where you can take a rest far from the noisy and jammed Vientiane! A free wifi allows you to send your iddylic prints to your friends and make them dream. That's already worth to find Jamil's place.
But the main reason is the food ! Here in Vientiane, there are a lot of restaurants enjoying success while serving a rather average food. I wonder why tourists lower their expectations on quality and pay with a smile heavy bills. For the price .. I don't think you can find many restaurants with lower prices...but to have tried all the indian restaurants in town, what I am sure of is that's the best one, and the cheapest.
It is just excellent ! I can say the service is also excellent even though the chairs are in plastics ... Jamil is always pleased to fulfill the requirements of the customers, he respects his customers and his cooking.
I am a rather difficult customer : I am vegetarian, I don't cope with black pepper and chilly. Nevertheless every time I enjoy Indian recipes full of savours and spices (in New Delhy where I lived for one year, I enjoyed such a meal only once, in Paris I hate Indian restaurants where the cook have such dispise for people not wanting chilly that they serve cheap canteen food while they spoil you with every details of typical indian decorum)

“Best Indian restaurant in town (by far)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2012

Jamil & Zahid (Son and Father) is a unique retaurant in Vientiane. The location is a bit hard to find, although it's in the city center, so you have very few tourists here. The owner is awesome and expert in web advertisment (see Jamil Zahid Restaurant on youtube), and the atmoshpere incredible. There is less choice than in the other indian restaurants, but the food is way much better, and very very cheap.

“Excellent Food and Service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2012

I live in Vientiane about 5 months/year, and Jamil Zahid is one of the best restaurants in the city. It is not fancy, and it is not part of the tourist circuit, but it has great food and a very friendly owner. The food is Pakistani and Indian, featuring good tandoori items, vegetables, and naan. Also, the prices are very reasonable, and lower than more well known Indian restaurants in the area. It is located in City Center, on a small alley across from M-Point Market in the city center. It is worth searching for.
