From what I read before about Vientiane hotels - Chanthasom seems to do pretty good, at least on the low season. Clean rooms, good wifi (i.e. The favoured scandinavian bakery had MUCH slower internet), staff is OK friendly
- at least when you are with them - and understand English good - when you speak slowly and with a smile. But these factors are in place in any Developing SE country you go to.
Hotel is quiet, within walking distance from centrum, and clean. Shower was hand held, but hot water etc. Breakfast was a piece of bread (baguette), butter and a fried egg. Nothing to celrbrate.
Yet For about 600BHT/night this all is good since Vientiane standards seem to be lower but more expensive than Thailand. Go figure (I guestimate government corruption from tourist oriented businesses, make no economic sense otherwise).
Would stay again.
