“Decent Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

I had a very good experience with the hotel. The staff is very nice.
The breakfast is repetitive as mentioned by lot of trip advisor reviewers. I did take the liberty to mention this at the reception.

The rooms are very clean.

The only hiccup was that they insisted on paying in advance and will not book by email.
I have traveled numerous countries for business and have always booked by mail. Even when the request came from the ministry, they did not book. At the end, I had to request my client unwillingly, to pay the advance.

The place is quiet and near to many attractions and good restaurants like Khop Chai Deu.
The mekong stretch is a walking distance, if you like walking.

Yes, its worth staying again.

Room Tip: The standard rooms have windows but the face the office rooms, so you prefer keeping them closed. Th...

As we couldn't make Nong Khai (the last bus had left the station!) we pitched up here late one evening on our trip of Laos and Thailand. The room was spotless and the bed huge! We even managed a bottle of white wine at a reasonable price. We left early the next day to get to Nong Khai for the Bangkok train and so didn't have breakfast but even though we saw little of this place what we did see what just great.
The staff on reception were helpful too and for the price of about £22 who's complaining!

Room Tip: Wished we'd had a couple of nights here and explored Vientiane. It's got a good feel about i...

We stayed there for 4 nights in January 2013. The location is great, close enough to walk to the Talat Sao market, to the bus station, to riverfront, Wat Sisaket, fountain square.

The rooms are spacious and clean. The breakfast was mediocre, nothing to shout about but enough to start the day with.

Where do I start? One positive is loction - quite close to the main streets and riverfront. Apart from this, there's not much else going for it. The room smelt like cigarette smoke and was very lack lustre - bare white walls with old furniture and the huge four poster bed... it seemed rather instituitionalised, like an old dorm? The staff at reception were all rude and/or compalcent. Not one of them smiled or seemed welcoming. For $60 a night, anywhere in the world, not worth it.

For the price we paid for the executive suite this is very good value. We had a very large airy room , clean linen and towels , modern tv, fridge, but a very basic bathroom (tiled) no shelves, mirror or hooks. There are no frills in the bedroom, reception or dining room but hotel is clean and air-conditioned. Breakfast was very basic and there was little attempt to fill empty dishes. Most staff do not speak english however everything went smoothly during our trip and we had no complaints with the hotel.

The hotel is quite new and the room that we stayed is quite big and clean. Most staffs at the reception can't speak English except for one or two. Food prices in the restaurant is not appealing and you can easily find yourself something within walking distance.

We have stayed many times in Vientiane and have found that the AV hotel is not only in a great location being at the end of the main street in the old town but very good value for money the rooms are very clean and come with a nice hot breakfast, the hotel it close to Fountain Sq (now that it is finished it is a must to see at night) and what we think is one of the best restaurants in Vientiane The Cave.

Room Tip: The standard rooms are very good no need to upgrade
