“Convenient location, nice rooms, courteous staff, horrible breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 days ago NEW

The hotel is located in the old city centre, very convenient for getting around this area. Traffic is horrible so it is faster and less of a headache to get around by foot. The staff are friendly and courteous. The superior rooms are small but cute. The bathroom has nice features, such as a rain shower and a view of a nice flower display. Very bib and comfortable beds. The only disappointment is the breakfast. Nothing was edible. The orange was even sour.

Room Tip: one on the backside of the hotel

Lovely hotel in the centre of Vientiane - sandwiched between two temples/monasteries with views of the Mekong river. Easy walking distance to night market, fair trade shops and buildings of interest. Taxi drive away from the land mine museum which gives a view of the history of the mid 20th century Indo-Chine conflict that isn't widely known in the west.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. It is possible to arrange a car to and from the airport. Many good restaurants both local and international near to the hotel. Not a Starbucks, MacDonalds or KFC in sight!

Room Tip: We stayed on the top floor in a large room with a view of the Mekong. Large and sunny with bath and...

We stayed two nights and had a pleasant stay. The staff are all very friendly and speak English well. They all promptly responded to our requests and appreciated our business. We felt welcome from the moment we stepped into the hotel.

The hotel itself has a prime location and puts you steps away from the best restaurants, bars, shopping, temples and the Mekong. The hotel is modern, clean and has charm. It gets a bit of noise at all hours from the street and Temple on the backside of the hotel, even if you have a room on the Temple side. Motorbikes, people, Temple bells, dogs barking, etc. It is noticeable but not obnoxious. The rooms are a bit small but standard for a city hotel and we never felt cramped or uncomfortable. The shower had some mold on the grout and tile otherwise the rooms and hotel are very clean.

We would certainly recommend and return for another stay.

The Sala hotel is in a perfect location to explore a very small neighborhood of excellent restaurants and interesting shops. Breakfast was lovely. The hotel provides 2 computers for guests' use and a printer for use at a very minimal fee
They have a nice restaurant and bar but no one seems to use it. (I suspect because ther are too many choices nearby). The breakfast food is quite good but the dinner options are limited and mediocre. ((We ate there 1night because my husband wasn't feeling well.)

an attractive and well run hotel!

This is my third stay here in the past five months.

Good:
Staff is super friendly, remembers you from visit to visit
Comfy beds
Quiet
Good breakfast
Good car service

Needs help:
The showers are still hit and miss regarding.consistent water temp and pressure
No onsite gym, pool

I really love this hotel. With the exception of one front desk lady who displayed her dismay at my need to change my driver schedule, everyone remembered me and was so very kind and helpful. Will be back.

I had always wanted to go to Cambodia and Laos, but in the post Vietnam years, travel to this area was dangerous and forbidden. Laos is still a communist country, you see a red hammer and sickle flag beside every Laotian flag. And yet, the country was very welcoming to an American. The hotel was excellent, nice quality, clean rooms and impeccable service, near the city center and near several very interesting restaurants and markets.
