“outstanding service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2012

We stayed here with our 8 year old daughters in March 2012. We re-located here after a poor experience at another Vientiane hotel.
The first thing that stands out about this hotel is the service. We arrived one evening, looking for a place, with 2 young kids in tow, looking rather disheveled. The front desk staff immediately brought us drinking water, and reviewed our options. Then they actually took us to see two different rooms, and gave us our choice. We felt the rates were very reasonable, given the quality of the hotel.
I did not catch the name of the young Vietnamese gentleman who often has the night shift, but he was so very friendly and helpful. He assisted us with translation with our pre-arranged driver and other matters. All staff, in fact, were very friendly and professional.
The only minor issue we had was that there was a misunderstanding in the kitchen that delayed our breakfast order. Immediately, the aforementioned Vietnamese gentleman apologized, saw that our order was corrected, and offered free special coffees, deluxe fruit shakes, etc as compensation.
They offer ipads to use, one was complementary with our room, and the kids really enjoyed the games.
The bathroom was absolute heaven. Large jacuzzi tub, with lights and radio... was hard to leave!
In all, I would highly recommend this hotel. It is very centrally located, and surprisingly quiet given that it is on a busy street. I am a light sleeper, and the only noise I heard was the gong of the neighbouring temple... which is a welcome, exotic alarm clock.

Room Tip: If you are an extremely light sleeper, ask for a room on the "temple side" rather than the...

I've just returned from a couple of days in Vientiane. During the trip I stayed at Salana Boutique Hotel. US$ 240 for two nights through Agoda. Not cheap but a lovely small hotel.

The Good - very new so everything works. Fast wifi included in the room rate, nice breakfast if somewhat limited choice (this is a small hotel), furnishing in the room are very tasteful, cool A/C, good cable TV on a flat screen, 50m walk to the river front, restaurants all around, good attentive staff, everything spotlessly clean

The Bad - no pool - and it was hot I must say.

Would I stay again - yes for a short business trip such as this. For leisure maybe not.

Stayed for three nights and was a little disappointed. For the price (and we are veteran travelers) you don't get much. The floor in the bedroom was dirty, Mosquitos abundant, and there is absolutely no outdoor space to speak of. We wouldn't stay again.

Awesome hotel. Great service, great location, great rooms. It was nice to be in Laos and staying somewhere so nice for a couple of nights! Much better value than my hotel in Luang Prabang which was more expensive and not as nice.

By saying Laos is a third world country I do not mean to disparage it. The people are friendly and charming and if the country is still a little old-fashioned it is all the better for it. We were only in Vientiane for 2 days as it was a destination in a much longer holiday bur the Salana ticked all the boxes. It is new, stylish and comfortable in a good location. The hotel service is efficient yet charming. the bedrooms are large and fully equipped.
Vientiane is under development and while the new river embankment is probably necessary to protect against flooding, it does detract from the views across the river.

Everything about this boutique hotel was amazing. The rooms are spacious and decorated in traditional Laotion style. The bathroom was lovely with a large shower big enough to accommodate all your family and friends. The decor throughout the entire hotel is classy. WiFi worked well and they have two additional computers for guests to use. The breakfast smorgasboard was a "Wow" experience with something for everyone. We ate there several other times and the food was always presented nicely and tasted great. The hotel's location is ideal as it is right downtown. The spa is lovely with excellent masssages and well worth the money. But best of all is the staff. They are kind, helpful, very professional and very genuine. We have many fond memories of Loas and certainly this hotel will be included.

Good quality hotel, spacious bedrooms with good wifi connections. Decor throughout hotel is very relaxing. Unfortunately I was not able to spend much time in the hotel due to work commitments.
