“Absolute delight”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2013

We stayed there for only 1 night recently but the hotel is charming. It was totally unexpected as the entrance via an alley-like side street made us wonder what kind of hotel we were staying at, but once we saw the entrance we knew it would be nice. Currently it is very small but it is undergoing an expansion with a pool that will make it even better than it already is. From the window in our room we could see the construction of the addition but we never heard any noise from it. Our room was lovely but more than that the staff is wonderful. The desk clerk was friendly and helpful and the 2 young bartenders were so nice to talk to. They are attending school in the hotel industry and wanted to practice their English. We enjoyed our time with them. This little hotel is a small and peaceful oasis. Thank you.

Because of the excellent evaluations of the hotel we came with high expectations. There is now a huge construction in progress, which will double the size of the hotel. From the beautifull tropical garden remains only a small part.
We got a room close to the construction (see picture), which was totally unacceptable. The personal service of the hotel showed no reaction to our complaint. So we left the hotel very displeased!
Conclusion: for the coming months, the Ansara is really no good choice!

Dear Madam,

It is with sincere regrets that I read that you didn’t enjoy your stay with us at all.

Indeed, we are approaching the final stages of building the extension and the pool for the hotel on the plot of land next door to the current property. Despite our best efforts to keep the noise and visual disturbances down on that side, there are certain short periods of times during the construction that the 2 things cannot, unfortunately, be totally avoided. The works take place Monday through Saturday, from 10 am to 5 pm, with a break during lunch hours. We sincerely apologize to all our guests who are disturbed by this and we will make the notice about the construction much more visible on our website so that guests are well aware of the situation before they make the decision to book with us. All our agents are well aware of the situation and I trust they notify their clients in advance as well.

I also apologize if our staff left you with the impression that they weren’t concerned by your complaints. I am sure it was a misunderstanding but will nonetheless look into this.

We expect the construction of the new wings and pool to be completed by end of January 2014 and sometime in February, the new facilities as well as the pool will be open for your enjoyment. Until then, we keep doing our best to keep noise and visual disturbances to the minimum. I would also like to add that the great majority of the guests we talk to well understand this and have told us the noise disturbance is in general minimal.

Again, my sincere apologies.

Best regards,
Sylvie Lichtenstein.

We stayed at the Ansara Hotel for 2 nights during November 2013.The Hotel is in a very convenient location. Its only 5 minutes walk down to the Mekong River where the night market is held every night and only 5 minutes walk to the Monastery nearby. The Hotel Building is a beautiful old French colonial building.

The Restaurant offers a good variety of food but I personally would add some more Lao meals to the menu. The food we did order in the restaurant was of very good quality and plenty of it!. The bar offers a variety of wines, beers and spirits which are very reasonable priced. Breakfast was very enjoyable as well, fresh fruit juices, continental selection, breakfast cereal and Eggs (fried, scrambled or poached or omelette). A variety of breads and croissants are available and especially nice was, that the hotel offered a nice swiss cheese. (I haven’t seen any cheese in any of the other Lao and Vietnamese Hotels I stayed at). There also was fresh fruit, cakes etc etc….

The rooms are great, every room has its own laptop with free internet access and WIFI. The beds are comfortable and bathrooms have a bath and shower facility. There is a coffee and tea making facility in the room and a safe. Aircon works perfectly fine and all the rooms I have seen, have a little balcony to sit outside.

The biggest asset of the Hotel however is their friendly staff. All of the staff members speak a very good english and nobody is frightened to interact with you, great management! Check In and Check Out were flawless and quick.

The only problem we encountered was the noise of the building work, the Hotel is building a pool and from around 10.00 o’clock in the morning until 17.00 h in the evening there was loud noise from the building site. I am not sure if my Travel Agent has been told about the building work, if he was, I cannot blame the Hotel at all. Please ask about the building work if you want to stay in the hotel.

We had a great time, very good value for money.

Room Tip: Do ask if the building work of the pool has finished else you will suffer noise pollution throughout...

This is a lovely hotel in a little road not far from the center and the night market. Road is a bit dark at night, but it doesn't feel unsafe.

The hotel is beautiful from the outside, and has a nice and cozy bar - lobby. However, the room felt dated and the bathroom nothing attractive. It seemed like any other 3 star you could book anywhere else, so not really up to the "boutique" name it claims. Cleanliness could be improved in my opinion.

Despite a buffet breakfast really limited (but with good products), the dinner was just delicious and like being back to Paris. Expensive, of course, but really nice and sometimes you need this type of things.

We personally didn't like the rooms, but the hotel is ok for the price you are paying.

Room Tip: Must get new rooms.

We stayed here for two nights. The Ansara's decor delightful. Great breakfast and ideal location on one of the most charming streets in Vientiane. but staff not so friendly, smiling. but impressed by the little touches - free snacks in the room, mosquito repellant as an amenity, etc.

This is an excellent hotel located in the historic and commercial center of the city, which allows you to do everything on foot. Take a walk in the evening on the animated bank of the Mekong. A very nice hotel, rooms have a decent size which are in a new building on the other side of a beautiful garden. The decor is modern and tasteful, they have a small balcony. You can have a delicious breakfast. The restaurant is very chic and classy, but a little expensive, so we had dinner in one of the many good restaurants in Laos. I really recommend this place, it’s a very comfortable location.
