“lovely peaceful hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

I stayed here three days with a tour group. The room is spacious with tile floor. After a couple of days I could shower without splashing all over the bathroom floor. There's a reason the bath mat is outside the bathroom! Couldn't ask for nicer people. Laundry in 24 hr or less. I paid $4 for 1.2 kilos. Great place near many sights.

Room Tip: I was in building two which is through the restaurant. room was quiet. Don't know whether it was...

Vientiane was our final stop in Laos so my partner and I decided to splurge on a nicer place.

Located on a quiet street across the renowned Lao Plaza Hotel, Sabai Dee @ Laos is 3 star hotel built in 2009. Location is definitely a huge plus as major attractions such as National Museum and Nam Phou Fountain were all within walking distance.

Although we were not offered any welcome drinks, the check in process was swift and our bags were brought up to the room with us. We were pleased with our Classic room that was tastefully decorated. We had a comfortable King size bed and the spacious room was clean and well maintained. Aside the standard features such as coffee making facilities, fridge, air-conditioning, safe, WiFi and Cable TV with plenty of channels, I enjoyed chilling out at the indoor terrace area. There was no hair dryer in the room but the staff promptly brought up to our room upon request.

The bathroom was well maintained and furnished with a glass wall shower area and good water pressure. Basic toiletries and clean towels were provided. My only complaint was the lack of toiletries rack other than a single soap dish within the shower area. Hence, you may need to leave all your toiletries lying on the floor when you bathe.

The complimentary buffet breakfast were served at the beautiful courtyard/bar area. The buffet spread has wide range of food selection from local dishes to western fare. Our stay coincided with another big tour group. As such, the place is often packed and food ran out pretty fast. Nevertheless, the staff did replenish the food several times promptly.

The numerous computers available for guest access in the hotel lobby was a major plus point for us too. We had no problem finding a free computer throughout the day.

Overall, I am satisfied with my stay at Sabai Dee @ Laos. Moreover, the surrounding area has a good mix of bars and eateries including Joma Bakery Cafe. Without doubt, I would stay here again next time round.

On a quiet side street within walking distance from the main streets and the Mekong river, is this delightful oasis. The rooms are bright and cheery , good internet service and most important a smiling, friendly, and helpful staff . Breakfast is served on the charming patio or adjoining room inside- a good buffet with excellent coffee and fresh papayas. Our room #2503 on the 5th floor faced the black stupa with beautiful light. We were there on Dec 22-23, 2012.

I wouldn't choose Saibadee for my honeymoon, but it's quite all right for a couple of nights on my own. It's four minutes walk from the central Nam Phu square, but Vientiane is so compact and quiet that you can walk almost anywhere anyway. Rooms are basic but adequate. Nothing special, but all right.

pros: an OK 3-star hotel; new rooms
cons: no coffee/tea making facilities in the room, no pool

Nothing special really - just standard and nothing to write/complain about
Rooms on the front can get noise from the street (however traffic is light)

hotel was located nicely in the middle of sleepy vientiane. hotel rooms were basic, breakfast buffet was good it was just the service. for our most expensive hotel on our trip it was the poorest in terms of service. couldnt get a smile or hello or any useful information without attitude. an example couldnt get a bandaid for a cut toe from the rough pavement outside the hotel. despite bleeding in the lobby couldnt even get a name of a pharmacy or shop near by that would have such things. bike rental was useful and a great way to get around town - would have been better if they provided them for free as in other cheaper hotels had.

warning - the wifi kicks you off randomly every thirty seconds rendering it useless.

maybe you will have a different experience - i saw locals rock up and get a welcome drink and great service. might be language barrier or maybe some of the staff dont like foreigners.. i dont know.

we are definately not going back.

The front of house is welcoming with a large meeting area and computers for guests' use. Our bedroom was in need of some redecorating and finishing touches. For example there were no tea or coffee making facilities or hot water in the washbasin. However breakfast offered a wide range to choose from, with the local dishes being particularly good. The staff were very attentive and helpful at Reception offering a free one way shuttle to the airport about 10 minutes away. The night market down by the river is about 15 minutes leisurely walk away. The surrounding area has plenty of bars and restaurants together with some upmarket jewellery shops. Plenty of taxis outside the door. That said, we would stay here again.

Room Tip: Rooms on the front are quite noisy due to the busy road outside. Please note: there is NO swimming...
