“It's ok, great motorcycle parking”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013

The hotel is old but in ok state. It's central and has great secure motorcycle parking. The problem is that right next door, they just started construction and it starts at 6:30 AM... I checked out after one day.

Room Tip: If you must stay here, get a room facing the road, not the neighbors.

We booked into this hotel through Agoda and it looked OK. When we got there it was very run down. The first room we were offered was leaking. The second room had a piece of plastic over the window and was next to another roof so easy access for thieves. The third room was a twin (not double as we booked) and you could only just squeeze in the door. It was very noisy with construction on either side and the internet was very very slow. We decided to cut our losses and go and find somewhere else it was so bad.

We checked into this hotel with a young boy who seemed to just be a stand in for an actual hotel employee. Our first room had dozens of large flies on the bed, curtain and in the bathroom. We asked for another room but the problem was as bad. Seemed to be a slow period and rooms had been empty for a long time and stale. Third room had plastic wrap instead of glass on the window which seemed unsafe. There was a sign in the room stating prostitution laws in Laos. We left and found a much nicer proper hotel down the road for five dollars more.

I did not have the best night:s sleep at Lao Heritage -- due to howling and barking dogs all the night and smell of sewer past 7pm -- however I very much appreciated the ownership. Staff was kind, friendly and accommodating and the owner Regina and her husband are sweet, warm and welcoming. Regina beams positive energy and Im especially thankful that she understood my fear of the notorious geckos without making me feel foolish, and led me to a room that she promised would be gecko free....and it was. :-)

Lovely small hotel a bit out of the centre of Vientiane. Lovely garden and helpful staff. We loved the location as well, 10mns walk to Mekong and in a quiet neighbourhood. Nothing in this hotel is perfect, most things in the bathroom are wonky but there are lovely wooden floors, Lao furniture, comfortable beds and good wifi everywhere. Breakfast basic but fine.

We stayed here for two nights when passing through Vientiane - we stayed in a double room, with ac, a fan, a tv and hot water. For $23 this place was overpriced! The breakfast is included in the hotel fee however it is two pieces of toast with either tea or coffee. Whilst the room did the job, and the location was good, I think there are better places to stay for a similar price.

Lonely Planet lists this hotel as a "top pick" and reviews online were good as well, so I booked online. I stayed a few nights. I liked the location--it's close to many things in town. However, my first night I was in a room with no window, no fan and a broken AC. I didn't realize the AC was broken until that night and I have to say it was a miserable experience. I'm generally not one to complain much about a room but it was incredibly hot. The bathroom drain pipe also smelled, so I was hot and cranky in a hot and smelly room. The next day the AC still wasn't fixed by evening and I was exhausted, so they let me change rooms. The new room had a window and AC and I was very happy. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean and it was nice and cool. The bathrooms in general are not the best, but overall the room was good. The free breakfast was a little but of a let down--two pieces of white bread and some packages jam and butter and coffee. But overall it was fine.
