“Still good but needs a pep up”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013

Service was unobservant and took a while to crank into action. They still bake excellent croissants and pastries. Lao Aroma Coffee is still very good.

“Good food good service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

Ended up coming here four or five times for coffee and food. Latte very good and enjoyed the breakfasts. Good service and nice atmosphere at reasonable prices. Was our coffee shop of choice in Vientiane and we tried most of them.

“Fresh Croissants?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2013

At 7.05am L’Croissant D’Or there was only one other customer sitting outside enjoying the cool morning. I ordered a Latte and a Croissant which I felt was a fairly standard request but from the reaction I got it was as though I’d asked for vanilla ice-cream with curry sauce. There seemed to be a moment’s hesitation around the croissant but I could see a tray of them in the window so felt relatively assured they could meet my bizarre requested. Moments later a warm and crispy and very delicious croissant arrived in a cute basket and shortly after a latte which was darker and more bitter than I like. While I enjoyed these and contemplated the day, a Mazda pulled up in the driveway and delivered 2 trays piled high fresh, plump croissants, so piled high, in fact, that a couple fell into the gutter but were quickly collected and hurried inside. Their fate remains a mystery. I had naively assumed that the pastries had been prepared on the premises, not driven around the city in the back of a car. I also realised that my particular croissant had probably been languishing in the window since yesterday along with its deflated fellows acting as little more than an elaborate stadium for the flies. This was confirmed when one of the freshly arrived plump croissants was then brought out to the other customer who was probably a local and a regular and knew better. This took the shine off my breakfast and the lesson learnt is if you want a really fresh croissant, have a lie in.
