Cracking spot on the river (take a note of the photo so you know what you're looking for: it's not well signed). Walkable from the centre of the city: just keep going for 5 minutes or so past the MRC building which everyone seems to know. We liked the atmosphere and had it not been for the kids falling asleep in their plates of food, would have liked to stay for longer. At least they had a kids menu though...
The grown-ups, meanwhile, had a couple of well mixed Mojitos. Our food was good without being exceptional. We chose fusion Tapas which worked reasonably well but were accompanied by too much spice (even for a spice lover's palate). The Sinsivanh (a bit like a beef jerky) was a good example. Not bad by itself but accompanied by a chili sauce that removed all taste from the beef.
Staff were politely inept though a question mark over of a 50,000 / 20,000 Kip note scam at the end of the evening soured things a bit.
Still, it's well worth the trip: we'd go back if we were in Vientiane again.
