“Great Vietnamese in Vientiane Laos”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

No bookings, get there at midday for lunch as it is very popular with the locals - young and matrons alike, and expats. You cannot eat badly here. The service is efficient and quick, the food is fresh and delicious, the passionfruit juice (you can get seedless too) is alone worth a visit, and if you are just passing you can get the best take away baguette with chicken salad (chilli optional) in Vientiane. Just be careful - there are two restaurants with the same name within walking distance but in different parallel streets. I believe they are owned by sisters. The one with all the signs pointing to it does great beef and noodle soup, but I am writing about the other one. If you go to the wrong one (ie the one without the sandwich bar at the front) just ask where the other one is - they understand, it happens all the time, and they will give you directions.

“Simple place, good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013

This is a simple but clean and efficient Vietnamese restaurant, a little off the beaten track, but worth visiting. It is always pretty full, from breakfast to late afternoon.
There is a good menu of Vietnamese food plus bread rolls stuffed with different meats and salad which are great to take away.
It is a good place for a simple meal, unpretentious but satisfying.

“Didn't meet expectations”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2013

I tried PVO after hearing a lot about it from other people. I guess my expectations were really high. I ordered the fresh spring rolls with tofu. Disappointingly, I have had better in town (check out 3 Sisters Restaurant next to Common Grounds). I got x4 rolls for 16,000 Kip which was reasonable. The service wasn't adequate eiter. I walked in and there was no one to help me out. I walked up to the counter and had to ask for a menu. Then after deciding, there was no one to take my order so I had to go back to the counter to order! Service definitely lacked. Although this may be because it was lunch time and they were busy. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

Would I come here again? Probably not.
