So as an American traveling solo in Bishkk for a week to renew a visa somewhere else, on my first real day of exploring the city I went for the cliche... I saw "Obama Bar and Grill" on this site and figured I'd just go with it.
The menu is definitely varied, and smacks of American food - burgers, buffalo wings, milkshakes, pizza, steak, etc... Most things are offered in "King" and "Prince" sizes, which was nice. I opted for the NY Strip Steak and a chocolate milk shake. Both were good. Not award winning, but tasty enough. Compared with non-expat non-themed cafes, it is a bit expensive... Milkshake, petite steak and a beer worked out to just over $20.
There is a security guard at the door who is more a good host than the waitress I got... surly Russian female type. The other waitress and the waiter who I interacted with were both far more pleasant... smiled back at me etc. I moved to the bar where the guard and bartender are both welcoming.
Recommend for an American-ish experience in Central Asia. Russian surliness is somewhat expected at this point. Ignore and carry on.
Food is okay, meat is definetly more to American standards than Asian... no fat or grizzle to speak of (which was all I really wanted :)
