“Good way to enjoy Astana outside dining”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

Astana provides a few spectacular months to dine outdoors and Satti is one of those opportunities. Overlooking the fountain along the central promenade in the new part of Astana Satti provides a pleasant view and ample seating. Several styles of covering are available and a few spots along the railing are totally open. I went for lunch and on a warm day you will roast if you sit completely uncovered. Best to get a tent or umbrella location if the sun is out fully. Less of an issue for dinner just be aware of the sun setting being blindingly bright until it ducks behind Khan Shatyr.

Food is good quality and the menu extensive enough to suit most tastes. Continental fare for the less adventurous and well prepared local dishes to sate the curious. Drink menu was limited but adequate. Not a whole range of styles of wine, cocktails etc. Juices are good and a few unusual ones on offer when we were there.

Overall worth a visit. Service is standard for the region so don't expect high-octane hovering waitstaff. Allow time and request the bill early if you're in a hurry for a business lunch.

“Very good experience with local food and service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2013

We were a large group consisting of locals and visitors. We were promptly seated outdoors and the wait staff was attentive. For the most part their English or other foreign language was limited to their language (Kazakh and Russian). Their menu is extensive and comprehensive in terms of offerings.

The appetizers were varied and very tasty. The stuffed pastries were excellent. The salad was crisp, fresh, and the produce had real taste.

The main dishes provide the right portion of food (do not expect US size portions and that is just fine!) and it came out hot, done just rights, and was excellent.

You can order all of the local dishes and there is something for all including vegetarians and pescatarians.

The location is great--outdoors, covered, and views of malls and monuments--and as the sun set all of the lights in the various buildings came on and the view changed from looking at varied modern architecture to a festival of color--very neat.

I recommend this place for all travelers.

“Excellent outdoors patio, good kebab”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

One of the best places in Astana for a summer evening dinner. Kebab is always good, baursaki (traditional fried bread) is the best in the city, as one of the other reviewers noticed. So is their apple pie - a variation on tart tatin. The outdoors patio is great, overlooking a nice fountain and Khan Shatyr shopping mall in the distance.

This being said, I like it less this year. First of all, cocktails disappeared from their menu. You can still get beer or vodka, sure - but how can a restaurant with a patio not offer some nice margaritas or gin tonics is beyond me. Also, their prices increased quite noticeably, and it became much more crowded than it used too be.

Still, one of my most favorite places in Astana.

“Reasonable food, a good setting, but lousy service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

Having visited Satti on a couple of occasions I do not think it is unreasonable to rate this restaurant with two stars only. The food has been good, and the setting outside is unusual for Astana, but on both occasions the food which has appeared, whilst perfectly good, has not been what was ordered, with major ingredients substituted and on both occasions one person in the group has never received their food at all. The teas however, are excellent and much recommended, so it is not all bad!
