“Peace and quiet in the heart of Phnom Penh”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2012

On the advice of a local contact, three friends and I stayed at the Imperial Garden during a recent photography project in Phnom Penh. What a pleasant surprise!

Phnom Penh is a great city, but quite busy and noisy in the central and riverside areas. The Imperial Garden is located adjacent to the river, but at the very southern end of the riverside area. As a result, it is quite secluded and peaceful. We could not hear any city noise, either from our rooms or from the pool and other public areas of the hotel.

The rooms are large, and the beds are quite firm, but (for me) very comfortable. The furnishings are a bit dated, but are in good condition and comfortable. Rooms have a fairly large safe and adequate desk space for work.

The hotel staff was delightful. Everyone we dealt with was warm, friendly, and helpful. Check in and check out were quick and efficient, and billing was accurate.

Finally, this property offers very good value for money. Rates are reasonable, the service is friendly and welcoming, and the property provides a nice refuge from the hustle of Phnom Penh. We'll be back...

We only stayed one night at the Imperial Garden Villa & Hotel. It was chosen by the tour company we were traveling with and we were quite satisfied. It's in a nice location along the Mekong with a park in front. Our flight arrived quite late, so we basically went right to bed, then left early the next morning. Our room was on the small side but was clean and comfortable. There was no elevator, so we had to take the stairs. The breakfast was very nice. We didn't have time to use the pool and other facilities, but the hotel served our purposes.

I stayed here twice so far: in February 2010 and August 2011 and had a very pleasant stay. It is a quite place outside busy Phnom Penh down town yet you could get to any place within a few minutes. Once when I wanted to go and have some mid-night snack around 1:30am (as restaurants around the area was closed at that time) the hotel staff arranged one of the security guards to take me on his moto to a restaurant and I in fact paid him what I would have paid for a tuk tuk or moto. Staff were very kind and as everywhere in Pnom Penh, free wi-fi.

My only complain is about a large Korean community that stay in the villas next to the hotel. I think, if I am correct, this place may be owned by Korean community in Phnom Penh. I think due to that you could see a lot of Korean women, children occupying the swimming pool and restaurant etc. I think this is OK, but food, especially the breakfast is a tailor-made for Koreans. So if you like Korean breakfast, this the place to stay.

Suggestion to the hotel: Please include some variety in your buffet breakfast and make it more international thank Korean.

Room Tip: Try ground floor rooms which I think are the best.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom 2 bath villa, it was very clean and spacious, but the beds were very hard. The staff was very nice. We had trouble with our Internet, the the repair person was very good. He followed up throughout our stay. The furniture and decor were dated, but it was comfortable and clean. The location was good for us and not far from the "Main Drag". The amusement park next to the hotel was loud for some of our companions.

Stayed in the hotel for 4 nights, mid August 2011.

The hotel location is very nice overlooking the mekong river, and close to mant restaurants.

A perfect choice if you fancy busy night life and, dining out, and busy night clubs (which I'm not)

Also close to many of the site-seeing attractions of Phnom Penh. The Silver Pagoda, Wat Phnom Temple, the national museum... etc, are all a nice 5- 10 nimutes (tuk-tuk) ride away. Make sure you ask the front desk/reception for a free Phnom Penh Map, very helpful.

Staff both at the front desk and the business centre are very cooperative, room service is quick, and housekeeping and Laundry are good.

Over-all a good hotel for it's rank.

Poolside area very pleasant and the restaurant was ok and the staff were generally quite helful. However the bedroom I had was very dark even in the middle of the day but the biggest problem was that it was infested with mosquitos. I would not stay here again.
