My boyfriend and I stayed here for 2 nights in August whilst exploring Phnom Penh. The room was fine with a comfy bed, well functioning air con and cable tv, and the bathroom was clean (very small but that wasn't a problem for us). I think we had one of the cheapest rooms as it had no windows, as it was just for 2 nights we didn't mind, but for longer stays I'd recommend paying a bit more for a room with windows as its abit claustrophobic!
As other users have commented the owner was very pushy with tours etc, it would literally be the first thing he said as soon as we came out of our room. We had already arranged a day tour through the rickshaw man who picked us up from the bus station so we didn't need to use the guesthouse owners driver, and felt uncomfortable telling him this!
If a guesthouse is going to recommend drivers/tours etc then that's great, but it doesn't need to be done so forcefully!
We had our laundry done whilst we were here too, the rates were good but it was returned to us still slightly damp.
The owner and his brother who run the place were very friendly, until we had all paid and checked out, after which the owner turned abit wierd. We asked him for directions to the bakery so we could get some snacks for our bus to Siem Reap, without looking up from his computer he barked 'left then left'. We attempted to follow these rather vague instructions but could find no bakery so went back. He was still looking at his computer, I tried to say 'excuse me' to get his attention but he completely ignored me, and when I tried again he turned around and shouted at me 'I already told you! Left then left!' I was quite offended by his tone of voice and rude manner and we still couldn't find the bakery so we have up.
I felt like now we had paid up and checked out, he felt like he didn't need to be polite anymore.
Furthermore, we had booked onward bus tickets to Siem Reap through the guesthouse, but when the bus picked us up it became apparent they had booked us the wrong tickets and we were being taken to Sihanoukville instead. The bus company were nice and managed to fit us onto the right bus (although it was full so my boyfriend had to sit up front with the driver) but we were very unimpressed that the guesthouse had made the mistake in the first place. Whilst we were at the bus station waiting to be put on the correct bus, the bus company called the guesthouse to find out why they had booked the wrong ticket, and the guesthouse apparently told the bus company they knew nothing about the mix up.
As a hotel the rooms are fine and I'd recommend as a base but brace yourself for the pushyness with tours, and if you book bus tickets through them, make sure they are to the right destination!
