“Lovely airy building, ok-ish market”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2011

We visited this market having previously visited the Russian Market and the markets in Siem Reap. This may well have jaded my opinion. It is much more spacious than these and is housed in a lovely Art Deco type building and it is a local's market too - that part I enjoyed, but I found it lacked the atmosphere of some local markets.
There are tourist items and souvenirs, but I did not find as much selection as at the Russian Market, which sells EVERYTHING from motor cycle parts, great local food stalls and loads of souvenirs - you never know what is round the next corner! We returned to the the Russian Market where we enjoyed several hours absorbing the atmosphere and bargaining with the friendly Cambodian stall-holders.

“Great selection and beautiful building.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2011

The markets are fairly easy to walk to from most of the accomadation spots near the river and was well worth the walk. The building in its self is great to see but the stalls also offer great prices and good selection. I got to pick up all the things I wished I had bought in Siem Reap but I am sure the prices were more competative here.

If only looking for one market stop I would choose these over the Russian market anyday but bring plenty of water because it does get hot! Also if you are looking for a quick cool down there is a large shopping complex next door which is quick and easy to pop into.

“Large market in central location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2011

This market is walking distance from sisowath area if you staying nearby, rather than Russian market.
Place is more airy and cleaner, and not crampy as compare to Russian market. Selling lots of imitation goods especially clothings and price is cheap. Better to be there in the morning, as it is less crowded, and you could spend half a day or more shopping at this place.
At the center of this market, there are many stalls selling gems and jewellery, and it is really beautiful. Did not dare to buy as unsure of the quality.
Should make a trip here after visiting Russian market and you could compare and decide, where is your best place for shopping.

“blend with local”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2011

It is the biggest market in town. You can find many local food, souvenir, even electronic stuff. Local food is cheap and they gave fix price. For souvenir, you need extra effort to bargain. I found most the seller was good and patient, i got half price for some stuff I bought. They also have used clothes, some of it branded and look as new. My friend got Levis short for USD 5 ! best deal
