“Home from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

I stay at 1-Up every time I come o Phnom Penh and, although I call it my home from home, it is actually rather nicer than my home back in London. The staff, managed byt the wonderfully accommodating, helpful and friendly Arun, could not be more helpful and without being overbearing. Great customer service is what the staff strive for, and they achieve it with aplomb. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff (who act as a family rather than a work team) is evident from the housekeeping guys and girls up to the manager.

The rooms are beautiful and comfortable and it is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city so they are also quiet.

This will be the fifth time I have stayed here; the first when it first opened a couple of years ago and each time i return, the amenities, decor and general feel of the place just get better and better.

i really cannot compliment 1-up too highly. I would stay nowhere else in PP and look froward to my return each time i come back to the city. You are doing yourself a disservice if you stay anywhere else in PP at this price range - it is great, not just by Khmer standards but by international standards. Excellent place to stay.

Dear Simon,
It is a great pleasure having you as our multiple-return guest! Actually, we are quite proud to confess that our hotel by now has more loyal guests like yourself who found a warm place, like a home, for each time they cross the city :-)) Arun and his team hope on many more!

Overall we were very happy with our stay. The rooms were clean and the food served was delicious. We just stayed one night on our way to Siem Reap and arrived into the hotel just before lunch time and within a short time the staff had organised food and a tuk tuk to see the killing fields and S21 to make the most of our afternoon. Later that night we enjoyed some drinks on the open top balcony on the top floor with a view of the light up independence monument in the background. We would highly recommend this hotel.

I'm not sure I could say anything negative about this place, even if I tried! The staff is very helpful and the room was extremely nice considering the price! In europe this hotel would have been 100 euros per night, easily!

The staff assists with anything you may ask of them and they are always willing to help - and do it with a happy face!

Room Tip: Not a single tuktuk driver I talked to knew this hotel. They all thought I said "Top Banana&quo...

I stayed at One Up for six nights and was glad that I booked it. Smacked in the middle of BKK1, the hotel is surrounded by good coffee shops (costa, bluepumpkin and brown) as well as many good restaurants. Arun and his team made the hotel special. They are friendly, polite and took care me from booking shuttle van to Battambong, recommending local restaurants, even getting a lunch for me from their partnered restaurant, as I was too lazy to go out in the heat. The hotel has all the amenities I need and I really like the way the scent the hallway with natural herb, i think it is bitter lemon leaves.

Room Tip: Rooms with balcony are larger than ones without. The best rooms are the penthouse which have easy a...

We stayed at the One Up for 6 nights and couldn't have been happier. Arun and his team provide an outstanding service. The hotel is well located, conceived and appointed. The rooms are spacious with all amenities one would expect. The beds aren't as firm as others we have experienced in SE Asia. The staff helped booking buses and the hotel's trusty tuc tuc driver took us everywhere we wanted for a very reasonable cost. It is bice to stay somewhere with a social concience. All in all one of the best hotel experiences we have had and great value for money, what more could one ask!?

Hotel is in the smart end of town near busy roads full of bars and restaurants but just tucked off the end of the road makes it feel like an oasis of calm. Amazing customer service, greeted with lovely iced drink and recognised everytime we came back. Manager always had time to talk with us and ask us about our day. Very helpful arranging tuktuk tour and with local area info. Can pay more for English speaking driver but not sure what they would add and our driver spoke more than enough. We paid $20 and were taken to prison s-21, killing fields and Russian market. Then dropped back at hotel before being taken to water front in early evening and picked up after dinner. Roof top terrace nice for a sundowner. Be aware 2 of the rooms are on ground floor by reception. We didn't experience any undue noise though and there is 24hr reception so felt safe. Rooms are large and clean. Breakfast is optional extra which can be delivered to your room but relatively pricey and lots of other breakfast options in easy walk.

Hi Rhian H,
Thank you for your kind review. “OASIS OF CALM”... Yes!! We love that expression! Indeed, our small boutique hotel is a secure, safe, clean and almost family run place away from the Cambodian hectic. This way, you rest well in nighttime and have the energy to explore the city in daytime!.

Very clean and nicely decorated room .
Really comfy place with friendly and helpful staff.
There is a kitchenette,balcony,safe,fridge,flat TV screen .
Choosing a place to stay was a little difficult for me as I wasn't sure about this chaotic city and what to expect but I was not disappointed.
Thank you Arun and staff (sorry can't remember all your names...).I'll be back.
