“The former America Embassy building in Phnom Penh has large comfortable rooms...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2013

We had a very comfortable couple of nights here. Our room was large and very comfortable with an enormous bathroom. The hotel is very centrally located.
The staff were very friendly and I was delighted to find a spa in the hotel, which offered all types of massages, including a special one that I chose, for travelers with tired legs and feet!

4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2013

Stayed three nights in November 2013 in a suite on the first floor. It was a very nice room but could have been perfect with a few extra additions. The suite had three very large windows and as the hotel is overlooked it was necessary to keep the curtains draw if you wanted some privacy. This could easily have been rectified by some sheers/nets at the windows. There was plenty of wardrobe space but they needed wardrobe lights, it was so dark it was very difficult to use the safe in the wardrobe. We had two sofas in our room and although they looked lovely they were just about the most uncomfortable sofas you could sit on. My husband was ill whilst we were staying in PP and had to spend one day in our room and because of the uncomfortable sofas he spent his time lying on the bed. This may sound like nit picking but to be rated as no1 in Phnom Penh you need things to be spot on.
The staff were all very helpful but as others have said it was sometimes a little difficult to understand what was being said, but 10 out of 10 for effort. For me the location of the White Mansion is what makes it such a great choice for staying in PP.

We have just had a fabulous 3 night stay at the wonderful White Mansion hotel in Phnom Penh. They seem to have got everything right here, from the moment we arrived we have been treated so warmly by every member of staff, they are more than willing to help with recommendations for restaurants, tuk tuk drivers, and sites to see. The complementary breakfast were varied and delicious something for all tastes. The pool was a refreshing respite from the heat. The hotel is situated on street 240, conveniently located near many lovely boutiques, and cafes. White Mansion comes with our highest recommendation.

Room Tip: My family and I stayed at 214 one of the family suites, it was beautifully decorated and very spacio...

Spacious rooms, attentive personnel, average price, perfect a la carte breakfeast. Dark lights in the rooms, some kind of smell in the shelves, bad view to a wall from certain rooms. In general, would advise for short-term stays.

We had a 2 night stay here while in Phnom Penh. From the street, it doesn't look like much but once you go in, it is well maintained building with old school charm. We were met by Sokha, the general manager at check in and this set the tone for the rest of the stay. Everyone was very friendly and extremely helpful. The hotel is a bit of a way from the riverside but there are tuk tuks just outside the hotel and it is less than 10 mins to the riverside with all the bars and restaurants. We did stroll back in about 25 mins. The tuk tuk charged us $2 instead of $1.
We were upgraded to one of the bigger rooms which was nice with a balcony overlooking the swimming pool and also the local neighbours since the houses are all relatively close.
The breakfast was served in the café area and it does have a limited choice compared to a large hotel but more than adequate for our stay and everything is freshly cooked. The breads were fresh and lovely. We also had dinner here on our first night since our flight arrived late and it costs us $25.50 for 2 mains and a 2 non alcoholic drinks.
Also there is a small boutique shop which sells local stuff which were reasonably priced and good quality and the proceeds go to helping a local handicap charity.
Overall if we ever visit Phnom Penh again, will definitely stay here.

Dear Valued Guest,

We appreciated your long and detailed review. Than you very much for taking some of your precious to write it. Of course, I wouldn't say I'm not honored by your kind words about me, but above all, your comments about our Team being very friendly and extremely helpful are the most important to my eyes. We are all very lucky to work all together everyday, we love it and we want to share it with you, all of you!

Thank you for complimenting our little Cafe: as you say, limited choice but all fresh and all tasty. For a bigger meal, all the best restaurants of Phnom Penh are less 5 min by tuktuk. So easy.

I hope to see you again in White Mansion.

Warm regards,

I was at White Mansion for almost two weeks and in some ways I was sad to leave. The facility itself is so nice--beautiful building, fantastic (small but long for laps) swimming pool, spacious rooms very nicely appointed--but what makes this hotel so special is the staff. From the moment you walk in the door you feel welcomed and the attentiveness continues throughout your stay--even one as long as mine. Doors are opened, you are greeted with a smile and greeting everytime you encounter someone from the hotel. They are truly committed to making their guests feel comfortable and to ensure that your stay is enjoyable. I cannot recommend this hotel enough and look forward to going back in the not too distant future.

We were impressed with this little hotel. It was so sharply kept and maintained and the lobby oozed old world charm. The grand staircase to the second floor was very impressive. The hotel manager, who is French, greeted us and chatted with us for a little bit and was very helpful and cordial. Our room was perfect--it could have passed for a 5 star accommodation. The beds were very comfortable--I have a bad back and a good bed is very important to me. Their restaurant had delicious food and we felt like we were sitting in an exclusive 5 star restaurant. We had to leave at 5:30 a.m. the next day for Siem Reap before their restaurant opened, so we were fully expecting that we would just have breakfast at Siem Reap. Well, they made sure we had breakfast to go that morning. When we checked out, they gave us our breakfasts, all packed nicely in a to go box. I would definitely stay at this hotel again and would recommend it to my friends.

Room Tip: We were on the ground floor and had a view of the pool. We liked it.
