Friendly small boutique hotel in good central location. Free WiFi with excellent connection. Good breakfasts. Huge rooms in modern decor with lounge and balcony. Small pool ideal for cooling off at the end of the day. Attached to fashion boutique next door.

We booked at the very last minute & emails were responded to very quickly. There was one room left and this was the spacious room on the top floor which was offered to us at a favourable rate.
Everywhere was very clean and staff were very helpful when it came to booking taxis and tuk tuks. Breakfast is pre ordered the evening before, we waited for sometime before it was served to us and for this they apologised. It occurred to me that it would be far quicker to have a small area where you help yourself to bread, croissants etc. Its not the fault of the hotel but there is a club/ disco nearby; noise from which (in particular the bass) went on to the early hours and considering it was a Sunday evening not very considerate in a residential area.

Lovely little hotel hidden away in back streets of Phnom Penh. Our room was massive and more of a suite than a standard UK box. There was also a lovely outdoor seated area.
The staff were great, very helpful and relaxed. The perfect start to our adventure around this beautiful country.
Situated about 5 min $2 Tuktuk ride or 15 min walk the river and fairly close to the central market. Loved it and would recommend!

My partner and I stayed for two nights and found this hotel faultless. The staff were extremely helpful in organising visas for vietnam, bus tickets and taxis. We both felt at ease knowing the staff were looking after us. The breakfast was the best we had on our stay in Cambodia. The room was spacious and spotless. All in all definitely an excellent all round place to stay in Phnom Pehn, made all the more better by outstanding service.

Le Marais was nice boutique-y hotel with huge rooms that made for a great value. The staff really made the experience great though. The two brothers who work there, Aaron and Rhity, were always checking to see if everything was okay and they even helped with arranging transportation for me to travel about the city.

During one particular instance, the price that was quoted by the hotel staff for taxi was very different from the price we received from the driver. Thankfully, Le Marais took care of the difference in the prices and I really appreciated it!

I'd totally stay again if I visit Phnom Penh!

Room Tip: Call ahead and try to get a good deal on the rooms.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2012

Le Marais was one of those delightful surprises that travelers occasionally run across. We scoured the internet looking for a nice hotel in Phnom Penh, which was the last stop on a three-week journey through Thailand and Cambodia. The small, boutique hotel looked great on the web -- but you never know. Pictures can lie, and many hoteliers have an inflated view of the quality of their facilities and service. Not so at the Marais.

To begin with, my partner and I arrived and were told that our booked room was not available because of a problem. My heart sunk, thinking we would be forced on the street to look for a place. Then Arun, the manager, quickly added that we were being upgraded to the suite, which covered the entire third floor, including a small and large balcony. It was beautiful, and at least 400 sq meters. At no additional cost, of course.

Web pics don't do the hotel justice. It is small, but beautiful, squeaky clean, top notch in every respect. Arun and the rest of the small staff could not possibly be warmer, friendlier or more helpful. It's a good location on a nice, quiet street; service is impeccable; cost for extras (bar, minibar, etc) is reasonable; the made-to-order breakfast was great; room was bright, airy, and tastefully appointed; bed is extremely comfortable; bath is huge, light.

We did peek in and see the smaller rooms. They are just as nice, only smaller.

If you want to be in the thick of the glitz and activity of tourist central along the river, this is not the place for you. But if you want a small, quite, beautiful, homey, relaxing atmosphere, the Marais will probably suite you very well. And it's only a 15 minute walk, or $2 tuk tuk ride from the National Museum, Royal Palace, and Mekong/Tonle Sap riverfront tourist center.
