“Beautiful room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

After a last minute booking on our way from Siem Reap we couldn't be happier. Beautiful room, much larger than expected for the rate we paid, and although the english isn't the best, the staff are more than happy to help as best they can. Great little boutique to stay :)

nothing special there...
Small Swimming pool, service medium.
Price expensive...
Owner speak a bad english...
And the discotheque in front of the hotel during the night was simply a horror during the 3 days where we stay there.

We are rather surprised by this comment for a number of reasons:we have never mentioned that our swimming pool was huge but still feel the size is certainly not small; we never encountered any language issue with our numerous from a diverse range of nationalities and with whom we usually speak English (except if they are French as we also speak French); the discotheque that was a front of the hotel is now closed since 3 months. Regarding the fares, we do think our price ranges are very competitive with regard to other hotels and boutique hotels in Phnom Penh and we do invite all visitors to verify this information by themselves.
We welcome critics as we feel it is an efficient way to improve our service and correct our weaknesses; however this only can work as long as these critics are constructive and based on actual facts. We would have appreciated to know the guest who has written this review but we cannot find a record that matches his presence in our hotel.
In any case, we still hope we can provide a location and service that is up to our guests' expectatations and if we understand there is room for more improvement we are also very glad to see that most of our guests leave with pleasant memories and nice words for Le Marais.

I can highly recommend this delightful hotel in Phnom Penh. It is conveniently and centrally situated, with most of the city's attractions within a short tuk tuk ride. The rooms are spacious, clean and quiet. The staff are incredibly friendly and eager to please, with nothing too much trouble, including organising our bus journey to Siem Reap. Breakfast includes delicious croissants and is served by a charming lady. The pool is small, but it was wonderful to sit by the pool for a drink and to take a dip in the evening to cool down. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would go again.

5 nights at the Marais Boutique hotel and we were very sad to leave. This is a beautiful and peaceful place at the heart of a busy and chaotic city. The location is perfect - close to the Royal Palace, the museum and the river, half way between the two main markets and in proximity to plenty of restaurants. The Hotel is incredibly clean, very well decorated and amazingly appointed and equipped. The two rooms we occupied were very large, beautifully air conditioned and much nicer than many 4 or 5 stars hotel I have stayed in.
The breakfast is individually served which means that the delicious croissants and the bread are still warm when they arrived on your table. There is great attention to detail and the whole team, although always discreet, is there to help and assist making our first experience as a family in that part of the world incredibly easy - negotiating Tuk Tuk rates for us, recommending places to visit, booking reliable and comfortable (at the best price) buses and cars to go to Siem Reap or Sihanoukville.
Although small, the pool was very pleasant after a long day in the heat and humidity of mid- August. I cannot finish without saying that accompanied by my wife and two daughters the lovely fashion boutique on the ground floor had a beautiful selection of small jewellery pieces made by orphans and underprivileged young people helped by charitable organisations close to the heart of the owner of this amazing little hotel.
No doubt one of the best places to stay in Phnom Penh and the best value for money one can dream of. I highly recommend it and will not look anywhere else next time we visit this part of the world.

This is a great small boutique hotel in Phnom Penh. It is very clean, comfortable and quiet. The staff are a wonderful group of people who are very polite, speak excellent english and ALWAYS have a smile on their faces. There is always a Tuk Tuk parked outside and you can get to any restaurant or bar for $2. Great breakfasts and overall a wonderful place to stay. If you don't want to be in the middle of the bar area this is a great place but still not too far away. I would definetly stay there again.

I highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Phnom Penh. The rooms are nice and spacious with a nice big bathroom and the hotel is situated a comfortable walking distance from most places of interest. The service we received from the two guys working at reception was outstanding. I had to get an express visa for Vietnam during my stay and within 30 minutes of arriving they had arranged for two travel agents to meet me at the hotel (they took my passport and returned it almost exactly 24hours later as promised). They also arranged the bus for me and generally made sure our trip was as easy and welcoming as possible. Breakfast was delicious and made to order. I cannot recommend this hotel enough and would definitely return. Thank you for a lovely stay, my friend and I had a fantastic time.
