“Nice atmosphere and service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2014

Menu is a bit all over the place - with everything from mexican and italian to traditional khmer. Between us we tried burritos, pasta, and local fish, and all were good.
Service was very good, and it's a nice feel of oasis even when eating outside. The kids loved the aviary.
Meals around $5-$7 and drinks very reasonable as well.

“A good surprise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2014

We went for lunch. I tried the Anise Salad (salmon, ham, eggs, olives) and my friend tried the set lunch with pad thai, a refreshing veg nem, and some fruits. Price is reasonable. The service is efficient. We had an ice coffee and lemon soda. Really cheap and nice atmosphere.

“We love this place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2014

We often travel to Phnom Penh and always make it a point of eating at Anise.

It's a really pretty restaurant with greenery shading the outdoor seating that's right next to a busy street.

We have never had a bad meal here. Some of the sandwiches are really good and my wife loves the Greek salad.

Last time she tried the amok ravioli and loved it -- what an imaginative menu item.

The service has always been great and it seems to be very clean. Are there cheaper places? Sure. But we consider Anise to be a real value, considering the ambiance and the quality of the food and service. We often schedule business meetings here because of the cool, relaxed atmosphere.

“Kept going back over and over”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2014

We stayed in the hotel and when it was time to eat we often couldn't walk past. The cocktails were yummy and even had $2 happy hour. Local food was delicious and wetsern food was very good for Cambodia. Don't know why it isn't ranked higher.

“Very good, could be even better”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2014

There are some really delicious dishes on the menu, and its a nice designed and laid out restaurant.

But there are also some duds, usually where the chef has obviously not tasted things before they go out, or where the portion size is inexplicably miniscule.

It is all rather unpredictable.

The lettuce rap and the chicken and cheese quesedillas are delicious and huge: but the panini sandwiches are half portions with a couple of pieces of lettuce as "salad". The Bruschetta was not nice, acid and tasteless.. Malaysian kebabs as a main course came without anything - not even rice. The fries are frozen, and the rice is of poor quality, gummy and half cold

On the other hand... the local specials are delicious, the Cambodian Chicken kebabs and the Vermicelli Amok are fantastic and the Tiramasu was THE BEST by a mile I ever tasted.... anywhere, ever, in the history of time

So be prepared to be delighted or a bit disappointed. But do try it out. People keep going back for a reason
