“Great place, Friendly staff, Nice manager”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013

We stay only one night at Diamond Palace Hotel, but we had a great experience. The hotel is in a lovely area within walking distance to Royal Palace, and close to the restaurants/ bars at the evening.

The breakfast was nice and good quoit. We did not have any meals at the hotel.

The staff were excellent and friendly, the man manager at front desk did Evey thing he could do to ensure we had good stay.

The room is nice, comfortable, clean and good for value with free breakfast.

I have no problem in recommend this hotel, it is a great place to stay in Phenom Penh who travel on budget.

Room Tip: Get room with window.

Hotel location was not good, our tour rep. Recommended not to walk at night after 8pm,
But take a tuc tuc. Bathroom in dire need of updating, Room outlook, we were based at the front, was onto shanty type properties. Breakfast looked most unappetising but you could get toast and eggs.

Room Tip: If your room is on the front you will overlook shanty type properties

The first thing to remember when staying here is that there are 2 diamond palace hotels. As the tuk tuk screeched up outside the other one I thought I had made a good choice of somewhere to lay my head for a couple of nights, unfortunately I was informed by reception that I was in fact at the wrong hotel, so another lift in a bone shaker took me the long way to my accommodation. The location of this hotel is too far out of the way for my liking, with no bars, restaurants or points of interest within reasonable walking distance. Walking along this road at night can also feel quite threatening. The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly. If you do decide to stay here make sure when you book you ask for a room with a window, I had the misfortune of getting a room without any windows at all. Very depressing!

If your just looking for a decent room (basics) then this is great and cheap but if you want anything decent in terms of food or service DON'T come here. When we booked we were told there was a room in the Safe (reason we booked) there was no safe and it was an argument to get a safe, we didn't get the safe the day we arrived and it took them 3 requests for a safe immediately because we wanted to go out to get the safe. All they had to do was carry it from behind reception to our room. Once we got the safe it was locked and we couldn't get in, we asked them to open it when they couldn't figure it out the guy said he would be right back, didnt come back, we went out for the day and had to carry all our valuables with us. At the end of the day when we came back they gave us a new safe-perfect timing because we were leaving the next day. The food here is also awful... We were the only ones in the restaurant and it took us 1 hour 20 min to get our food. And it was cold. But there was time for every employee to eat at the other end of the restaurant during that time. They forgot my friends food then when we got the billed tried to bill us for food we didn't order then argued with us when we said we didn't order nor receive the most expensive item on the menu. And also had to show them with all the plates we had on our table because they didnt remove them. Absolutely everything at this hotel was a fight.

Room Tip: Don't stay here, if u do wear ear plugs

We stayed here three nights - two when we arrived in Phnom Penh and one at the end of our trip. The rooms were clean and the service very friendly. The hotel is close to several good restaurants and it was easy to get to attractions and the river by tuktuk. Breakfast was fine - very simple and what you might expect for this price.

The Diamond Palace Hotel is just an Ok, Ok hotel. Nothing great about the rooms or the location of this hotel. Staff was pretty nice, the breakfast is just about edible. I just slept and showered and was out at Naga World most of the time. The hotel door would be locked when I got back at night, so I had to bang on the door until a guy comes to unlock it. There was NO hot water for a shower at nights so I had to take a cold shower. I Cleaned the filter of the air-conditioning myself in order to get some cold air, and that was after they change my room once, I've come to my conclusion that the maintenance of this hotel is BAD, I do judge hotel on things like these, filters, shower curtain, etc.

Room Tip: Look for hotels that are more central, somewhere near central market or on Monivong Street. If stay...
