“Does what it says on the tin. Clean, cheap, friendly.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013 via mobile

We booked in here for an air com room. After a little walk around the neighbourhood we realised the main areas for restaurants are a 5-10 min taxi ride away either at the riverside or the area known as Bkk. However there are always tuk tuks waiting outside and they're really friendly guys!

The room was good. Clean, the air com worked. The wet room was small but it did the job! Bed was comfy & we slept well. We didn't mind the distance to the restaurants as it meant it was quiet round the hotel when we wanted to sleep.

We were always asked if we wanted the room cleaned & the laundry service was good.

Spring Guest House was the first of those multicoloured Guest Houses in this area and it shows. Must be around 5 years ago now. Most of the doors are showing their age and everything seems to be a little wornout nowadays. But whenever I stayed here I felt safe and the number of long term residents says it all.
Staff changed over the years but I have no reason to complain about each of them.
WiFi seems to be a problem but I never used it.
As the rooms start about 6$/day with cheaper monthly rates - value for money is excellent!

I booked this guesthouse before hand I moved to Phnom Penh. First booke only three nights but made it eight in total. The guesthouse is a little off centre of to say it better not next to were all the tourist are. But as Phnom Penh is a small city and it still located in the city centre it is only 5-10 minutes away (by taxi) from most destinations you want to go to in the city.
Nice small (hot) shower with all and a tv multiple tv channels. The staff is very friendly and is willing to help you in anyway they can.

On the Street 134 you can find 3 similar guesthouses: Spring, Burly and Sky Park. These 3 guesthouses are completely identical. I was in Spring for the week.
Good service, WiFi, clean linens and low price.
The Royal Palace is only in 20 minutes walk.
Great place for backpackers.

We have booked this guesthouse before arriving in Phnom Penh and as I haven't checked the location I ended up a little bit out of the centre. However the staff have been very helpfull and arranged transport (tuktuk) for us without being to much overcharged. The room was nice, shower was good, you could use the computer downstairs but they also provided good wifi throughout the guesthouse.
When we wanted to go to the killing fields and the genocide museum the staff arranged a tuktuk for the whole day which was really nice and helpfull in the end as he just waited when we where walking around, having lunch or whatever we wanted to do.

Overall the guesthouse offers a good room and they are very service-oriented which I value highly. If you want to be located in the city center, then this guesthouse wouldn't be suitable but for me it was good.

Spring has some of the best value rooms in the city. Mine was $6 per night and was clean, with a fan and cold water. It was, however, up 6 flights of stairs, but you can pay a couple of dollars more and have a better room downstairs. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean.
The guesthouse may have had a bedbug problem while I was there, because at 8am all guests were kicked out of their rooms with no warning for an extermination to take place.
No communication whatsoever, 8 hours with no access to our rooms and of course no discount provided for the hassle.
But you get what you pay for.

The location isn't too bad, you can walk to restaurants and 2 supermarkets and I suggest trying the Asian Spice restaurant on the street for super cheap and delicious meals.

The price for the double room is good, there is an attached bathroom, which is a plus and a tiny tv and free WORKING wi-fi in the room. (Room 07 in 2. floor.)
The downside is no restaurant or breakfast room and then a drain that was not working once out of our 4 nights. Tried to have it fixed but I only think they did something once. If you want cleaning or anything done, then ask. Be patient, smile and remember that the room is cheap:-)
No street noise and a tuk tuk to the river should not cost you more then 2 $.
