“A true oasis”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

The Villa Paradiso certainly delivers what the name promises; it is a paradise in the midst of manic Phnom Penh.

The hotel’s location in the midst of Phnom Penh makes it a very easy and convenient starting point for exploring, with the tuk-tuk drivers waiting outside the gates offering a quick and cheap option to get around. While Phnom Penh is not exactly a city that invites visitors to explore on foot, the hotel is only a short walk away from the Royal Palace. However, be prepared to be constantly offered rides by tuk-tuk drivers along the way.

The hotel does very much feel like the family-run hotel that it is, with very friendly staff helping us manoeuvre the sights of Phnom Penh and the owners greeting guests and making sure everyone is enjoying their stay.

We stayed in the very spacious Balinese Garden room that also has a large bathroom. The room has all the amenities you would need and anything that is not out on display can be called for. All rooms are individually designed, but in our room the design of the shower was a bit of a let-down. The shower is basically a self-made bath tub you have to climb into and as such rather impractical and could be inaccessible for someone less mobile.

The pool area is set in a beautiful and lush garden which yet again makes this hotel the escape from the city that it is.

There is a good choice for breakfast and starting the day at the outdoor restaurant overlooking the pool area is great. Similarly, the restaurant offers delicious Khmer food and an excellent opportunity to relax after having spent the day in Phnom Penh.

Great location to all the sights in the city. The hotel premises are first class. Large room , very clean. The pool is beautiful especially after a busy day in the hot city but what makes this hotel is its staff. They could'nt do enough for you. Stop looking and book this hotel if you are thinking about staying in Phnom Pehn.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights. It is situated in the southern part of town, some distance away from the main sights and restaurants. There was a small group of tuk tuk drivers lurking outside the main gates whenever we stepped out, so this didn't turn out to be a problem.

We were a bit worried upon arriving late at night, the gates were shut and the lights were off... however the friendly staff came running out immediately as we rang the bell. They took us to the main building, an impressive looking mansion, and to our room, which was huge, well-appointed and had a massive bathroom. The four-poster bed was a great feature too. The rooms have different themes, ours was the "Colonial Garden" room.

The pool and poolside restaurant were a great place to sit and relax, a nice calm place away from the hustle and bustle of Pnomh Penh. We didn't eat at the hotel beyond the included breakfast, which was decent enough but nothing to write home about.

Just relaxing at pool after an enjoyable 3 night stay in theHarmony Suite. We loved our large suite particularly the private garden patio off our room. All of the hotel staff were pleasant and eager to please. A great location close to all the sites for a dollar or two Tuk ride. The owner Philip made sure our stay was perfect! My wife had an amazing Lemongrass massage at the hotel spa. Would definitely stay again at The Hotel Paradiso !

Having stayed in many of the large and costly hotels over 2-3 years, I much recommend Villa Paradiso. The rooms are far more spacious than usual and each room has been designed with great care and attention. The hotel is well located. It has a private garden, swimming pool and fantastic sauna and spa/beauty area which create a very relaxed and unique experience in the middle of Phnom Penh.

It has been literally months since I first came upon the Villa Paradiso. That I still feel compelled, after all of this time, to write a review about this lovely place is testimony (if nothing else) to the pleasant memory of Villa Paradiso that endures in my mind.

This place must have been an urban villa at one time, one of those walled compounds, ubiquitous throughout Phnom Penh, that has been repurposed into a really lovely boutique hotel. The proprietors have done a nice job living up to the “Villa Paradiso” name. The center piece of the walled court yard is a swimming pool ensconced in palmettos (I think their palmettos but I know zip about such things) and tall palms and dense shady green foliage. The pool is not huge but a good enough size for laps, good deck space, a jacuzzi in corner, and cabana bar/cafe at one end. But, more than anything, it's just lovely to look at. There are small cabanas for a massage along one side but, lounging by the pool, you would never know it as they are hidden by a jungle of vegetation. I have had a couple of massages both good. I'm no expert on massages but these are legit and, for me, targeted sore neck and shoulder muscles. And after the massage a fruit platter and tea served gratis poolside. What's not to like?

The rooms are big and beautifully decorated. Maybe one or two a bit la-Dee-DA for my taste with a canopy over the bed, but all artful and easy on the eye. It's clear that the people running this place are “hands on.” They're watching all of the details. This alone puts Villa Paradiso in a different class from the vast majority of hotels in Phnom Penh and Saigon (including a good many 5 star hotels). And the staff smile. Such a small thing, right ? But what a difference it makes.

My husband and I were lucky enough to have recently stayed in this wonderful little hotel. The staff were always friendly and very helpful nothing was too much trouble to assist in us having the best possible stay. The rooms are very large and stop you ever getting that boxed in feeling that most hotels have. On our return to Phnom Penh after going around the country we were welcomed back like old friends by both the owners and the staff. We have travelled extensively and found The Villa Paradiso to be one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: The suites are wonderful
