“Comfortable, well located”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2014 via mobile

This hotel is very close to the riverside and is superbly located with regards to restaurants, bars and cafés. The hotel itself has a modern facade: the rooms are well appointed, the beds are on the firm side. The reception staff were friendly and were always helpful and courteous. There is a Canadian bank ATM in the foyer and the staff were always obliging in changing high-denomination notes into smaller denominations. The restaurant staff were disinterested when we visited, but with so many good restaurants in the vicinity, there is really no reason to eat in the hotel. The 6th floor restaurant was used for breakfast which was an awkward affair with huge circular tables dominating, making it impossible to enjoy the more personal experience that smaller tables enable. The breakfast food was also spread out a lot, with no signage indicating what was in each food container. Overall, a convenient place to stay, clean and comfortable - albeit a little quirky at times. I traveled as part of a group and felt really good about Ohana from the moment our luggage was taken to the lobby. I got a little more excited when I got to my room. My happiness was riding a wave until later that night when I was getting ready for bed. I had turned on the shower and was getting ready to step into the tub when I spotted a cockroach crawling along the shower curtain. I am scared to death of cockroaches and that was pretty much when I lost my sense of comfort.

Pros: #1 On the surface the hotel appears clean. My linens were clean and my towels were clean. #2 The bed was amongst one of the more comfortable beds I experienced throughout my entire trip. #3 The location is pretty great. You are close to the waterfront as well as lots of shops, restaurants, the Wat Ounalom Monastery and the Royal Palace. #4 They have a really good breakfast buffet with lots of Asian and Western options.

Cons: #1 Seeing a cockroach in my bathroom was extremely unpleasant. I deducted a star from Ohana's rating because of the cockroach. If it wasn't for the fact that I genuinely wanted to like and root for this hotel I would have given it only two stars. #2 My room was on the fourth floor facing an alley and I could hear the sounds of screaming cats all night long. Definitely not great for light sleepers.

Recommendations: #1 ZIP YOUR LUGGAGE!!!!! I don't care if you go into your luggage for hand cream and plan to put it back ten minutes later. Keep your luggage zipped shut at all times. Clearly cockroaches are in the rooms and just because you don't see one crawling around doesn't mean it can't sneak into your luggage when you're not looking.

The hotel is close to the Silver Pagoda and good restaurants. The rooms are comfortable and there is good pool, good cable tv, in-room safe, sauna (we didn't try) and ok wifi (a bit slower times) and a basic breakfast. The front desk staff are great - very helpful.

We stayed for two nights in room 214, which is acceptable but unexceptional. The beds are comfortable and the en-suite clean with a decent shower.
The bedroom has no shelf space at all and insufficient drawers. There is enough space to improve it radically.
Staff were helpful and the swimming pool nice, though it doesn't get much sunshine as it is enclosed. Breakfast on the sixth floor has an outside are with very good views. However the breakfast was poor. The hot food was cold and the fruit selection simply not good enough in a country where it's usually good.
Location is good, though there is a fairly smelly market nearby. However it's well placed for most amenities.
With a little investment this could be a good hotel.

We stayed in the Ohana Phnom Penh on 1 Jan -3 Jan 2014, although just a short stay , we were satisfied , for what we paid ,and what we got from it.
Booked from Agoda , for a twin room for about USD 110 ( quite cheap ) for 2 nights with breakfast. We cannot find a room with an extra bed on Agoda, so we leave a remark that we require an extra bed and breakfast for us , family of 3.
After an 8 hours journey by bus from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh, we were happy to see, that our hotel is located in such an exciting neighborhood.
Psar Kandal( wet market) is behind the hotel, just a short walk.Riverfront is just a stone throw away.
A lot of nice restos, bars, massage parlors , pubs are within walking distance.
Behind the hotel is Wat Ounalom , Royal Palace is within walking distance.Overall ,superb location !
Ranmork (tuk tuk), taxi ,motorcycles can be hailed from just in front of the hotel.
We stayed at the room 214. we paid another USD 50 for an extra bed , and i think they upgraded us to a bigger family room with 2 beds, 1 queen sized bed , and 1 single bed.In the room we can find also a baby bed!The room was clean and the beds are comfortable.
A flat screen TV, a safe deposit box, bathtub, hardrier, clean towels, complete bathroom amenities, sofa ,wardrobe , kimonos , sandals ,were standard features in the room.
Breakfast was served on the 6th floor, roof top resto ,with awesome view of the Riverfront,a lot of choices for food , and it tastes delicious. There's also a nice swimming pool on lobby level , but we didn't manage to try.
Our view from the window room , was the Wat Ounalom , too bad that it was spoiled by the wasteland between it.
Check in and out was superbly quick.Staffs were friendly.
We would like to stay again in this hotel , in our future visit to Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Room Tip: Rooms with balcony seems like a good choice

Stayed here after arriving late into Phnom Penh before catching the bus to Siem Reap the next morning. Convenient location by the Riverside (lots of bars and restaurants and nightlife, but also lots of beggars and the odd spot of prostitution!)

Well presented hotel, friendly staff who were happy to contact our bus company (Mekong Express) to arrange our free pickup the next morning. Room was a king double with a view overlooking the huge Wat behind the hotel (spoiled only by the wasteland between the hotel and the Wat). Clean room, bathroom OK. Swimming pool looked nice but didn't use. Breakfast was good with decent selection and is served at the top of the hotel; cool breeze with a beautiful view over the river was a nice way to start the day.

Would definitely stay here again although the Riverside at night is a little too sleazy for our tastes. Good value for money!

For Cambodian standards this hotel is excellent. Location is great albeit a little noisy with the market nearby. Breakfast fine and staff very helpful and also family friendly with cots available. We have stayed here along time ago and this was our first stay in 3 years and we were delighted that standards are even improved from before. Air conditioning is fine and room very clean. The hotel is going completely in the right direction unlike others in Cambodia. Best hotel for the money.
