Description: Open Monday to Sunday from 11am to 10.30 Pm (kitchen closes 9.30Pm) Romdeng is set in a beautiful colonial building whose wooden carvings, tables, chairs and unique lights were all hand made in Cambodia. The silk goods and cushions adorning Romdeng were made by our students in sewing training at Mith Samlanh and its walls are hung with beautiful paintings produced by young people from the art classes there. All of this plus a pool, free WIFI, a family area and a gift shop mean a visit to Romdeng is a must. We would like to inform you that ROMDENG Restaurant will be closed for Khmer New Year and will reopen on the 6th of May 2014.

“Fragrant and delicious modern Cambodian food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2010

If there is a better modern take on traditional Cambodian food, I have no idea where it is. The recipes are creative and fragrant, though rooted in a very distinctive culinary tradition; it is beautifully presented and served; and you eat in a good cause. You can see, with your own eyes, that the kitchen is spotless, and can be completely sure that the food will bring you nothing but joy. The menu is long and thoughtful (lest anyone leap to a wrong conclusion, the one tarantula item is surprisingly close to soft shell crab tempura), and there are no duds. A gem of a place.

A very nice restaurant with a nice ambiance, great food, and attentive staff. That's not to mention it's for a good cause.

“Easy way to help Cambodia”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2010

Romdeng is run by Friends International, an NGO which helps street kids into reliable employment. They have 3 training restaurants, Romdeng is the "quality dining" option. It is set in a beautiful old French Villa, very 'Indochine' atmospheric. The food is 'modern takes on Cambodian Classics'. It is absolutely gorgeous food. The service is excellent. We always go to Romdeng as a special treat.

“A lovely ambience, great food and a good cause”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2010

Came here for lunch after having read a review and had a great experience. The setting in an old colonial villa brought good respite from the heat and dust outside (they even have a nice little pool if you're up for a little dip), and the service staff was attentive from start to end. The restaurant serves as a training ground for former street youths honing their culinary and hospitality skills. Food was excellent - there were three adventurous guys in our party who deeply appreciated the deep-fried tarantulas. One even bought the restaurant's highly-ranked cookbook so he could recreate the recipe back home (though he'd probably need to get the raw material from a pet shop). Otherwise, the grilled eggplant with pork had a nice smoky flavour and the fish amok was lovely. Nice desserts as well. We wanted to return for another meal before flying off but sadly, do note they're closed on Mondays.
