“ideal location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2011

We stayed at the Blue Lime for 3 nights when we arrived in Phnom Penh and stayed there again at the end of our 3 week trip for 2 nights.
We had notified them in advance that we would be arriving late at night so they had someone staying up in reception to welcome us which was a relief.
The location is just right as it is easy walking distance to all the sights and eating places.
We walked everywhere but if you needed a tuk tuk to take you home the hotel had written directions in Khmer to make sure you didn't get lost.
We had no problems with noise or loud music. The construction noise from next door was minimal.
The breakfast was delicious and plentiful (bread, fruit, coffee/tea, fruit juice, eggs). We didn't really need lunch.
We used the pool a lot and liked the ambience of the place. The free wifi was a bonus as it allowed us to organise the rest of our trip.
Our room and double bed were clean and comfortable. The concrete furniture did keep the room very cool so we ended up using the blankets!
All recommendations about airport transfers were spot on (Bons Voyages). They arranged bus tickets to Siem Reap without any trouble at all. The bus company they use are Sokha Komar Tep Express ($10 one way) and they were very good. We accidentally forgot to hand in the hotel room keys but the Blue Lime notified the bus driver who took the keys from us and returned it to the Blue Lime for us.
There was a body guard (and friendly tuk tuk drivers) outside the premises at all times so we felt safe within the hotel grounds. Our flight back to the UK was late at night so after checking out they looked after our luggage during the day and also let us use the hotel facilities.
All the staff were most respectful, kind and caring. The hotel staff were extremely helpful in all matters and we can't thank them enough for a wonderful stay. I can't think of a better place to stay in Phnom Penh.

Blue lime is a cosy ,relaxing place in phnom penh......nice lovely rooms colours added to give the room character.i stayed in theus 50 room on the second floor with a balcony.
don't let the road leading to blue lime fool you as u open the white door u enter this lovely blue reception so homely and relaxing with friendly people to greet u.The pool side is lovely with blue cabanas and that's where u have yr simple breakfast.me being asian i would prefer a wider selection for the breakfast.that is the only thing i feel needs improvement. There is construction goin on outside the hotel but it did not bother me as i am out most of the time sight seeing unless u want to laze around the pool then it would be a concern to you as it will be slighty noisy.

it is walking distance to national museum, the palace and the riverside.U will need a tuk tuk plenty outside calling to take u to the killing fields, russian market and tual sleng museum. i paid us 10 for the 3 places.up to u to bargain.
Coming back to Blue lime.....it it such a soothing effect to walk back in there after visiting all the places.I simply love the place and for the price it worth it.
Geraldine the front office manager was very helpful and very attentive to feedbacks......
would recommend it to all.........im glad i stayed there.I was shown the room with the pool which was lovely as well.

Room Tip: all rooms are lovely.....go with your budget

This place is basically a copy of the Pavilion, another hotel in their group. It has a great simple but elegant style. The staff are great and I think its excellent value for money.

The only problems - the food is bad European - think cheep cheese pizza, lots of fried stuff - no idea why.

The music - not their fault, but as I write, I am listening to 'gabba' rave music (80's style) from the Alley Cat Cafe next door. Its 5 now, and I apparently have to put up with it till 11pm, every night for the next week... Sad to say its a permanent feature of this hotel and really disappointing.

Room Tip: Dont go for a Garden room.

I am sorry about the music at the Alley Cat café, it is usually not something we suffer from. I'll go and have a talk with the owner, who is a really nice guy.

As for the food, we are in the process of revising the menu... hope that helps! Cheers, Alexis

Me and a friend stayed at Blue Lime when we were in Phnom Penh and it was easily our most expensive accomodation That said, we loved the place and it was probably our favourite part of Phnom Penh, so it was well worth the $50 a night.

We were in the comically numbered 31 twin room on the top floor (it was supposed to be 13, but it looks like the guy that cut the sign messed up.) and it was quite a trek up three flights of stairs. Wonderful once you got up the top though. This place's website does NOT do it justice. The rooms are so much bigger than they look and the concrete is not at all overpowering. Beautifully designed rooms and really good matresses. A tad too firm for my friend's taste, but after too-soft foam matresses at other places, Blue Lime's beds were brilliant. Pool was exquisite. Restaurant was expensive, so we didnt eat there, but if breakfast is anything to go by, the food would have been good.

Breakfast was amazing and the staff there are lovely. Nothing is too much trouble and everyone speaks really really good English. We were on a hunt for a bottle of johnny walker blue label whiskey ($300 at home and muuuuch cheaper in Cambodia) and the lovely ladies on the front desk took it upon themselves to call several of the companies that supplies the bar with their booze to see if they could track it down for us.

The cleaners deserve a special mention as well. I may have managed to drop a full bottle of tequilla on the (tiled) floor while we were trying to pack on the last day and amidst our "omg sorry sorry sorry" babble the lovely girl busy with the room next door gently waved us out of the way and helped clean up the mess. Incredibly appreciated. Service here goes so far beyond the usual booking of bus tickets.

We were there on the 27th of March when they did earth hour (no power for an hour) and they put on free sangria at the bar to try and get everyone to come down and have a good time. hot water is also solar powered I believe, so it's nice to stay somewhere that actually does consider the environmental impacts of their business.

Location was really great too. Nice, easy walk down to the river front and plenty of tuk tuk drivers hanging out to take you anywhere else. Only thing was that a fair few tuk tuk drivers didnt seem to know where it was when we were trying to get home after a night out, so do make sure you take one of the business cards at the front desk with directions in Khmer on the back. Little thoughtful, useful things like that make this place stand out.

Bit of construction noise next door and a club with a loud sound system over the back fence which gets going on a saturday night, but that's just Phnom Penh. So, so glad we stayed at this place, but it's probably not for you if you want silence. But then, Phnom Penh's probably not for you if you want silence.

Room Tip: book.

Stayed at Blue Lime for 6 nights during a volunteer trip to work at a medical clinic for street kids. The weather was extremely hot and uncomfortable while we were there, so the AC at the hotel was welcome. The hotel is a small oasis in the middle of the city, well situated to excellent restaurants, shopping, the river, and other tourist sites. Daily breakfast is adequate, with a wonderful fruit platter and good coffee. Decor is chic, and rooms are clean and bottled water is supplied on a daily basis. Wifi throughout hotel with computer access in the lobby. Staff are wonderfully nice and helpful - it's like staying with family.

Downsides have been mentioned before. Hard beds (and I like a firm mattress, but these are something else) crowded pool area (try to get a pool villa instead), and STAY away from rooms 16-19 as they are contiguous to a disco and it is like sleeping inside a throbbing bass drum at night.

I definitely would stay here again, just in one of the quieter rooms. It's a gem in a city of unpolished stones.

The hotel was located very close to the National Museum and the Royal Palace, and just 5 min from the riverside. The room was clean and with a fully functional WiFi connection. Great with a pool, so one could get away from the traffic and chaotic city center and relax for a while. But be aware that you still can hear a lot from the surrounding city when lying by the poolside.

The service here was excellent. The hotel manager happily arranged a car to the zoo with very little notice and made sure that we were well cared for. The hotel is not overly fancy, but was not low budget by any means. The beds were hard (I don't mind a hard bed), but otherwise the rooms were very nice. The hotel backs onto a nightclub, so there was some music and voices drifting over the wall at night, but nothing major. The pool here is fantastic - I took a swim every day after returning from sightseeing. There is a complimentary breakfast that is nice, and free wifi is available in the rooms (they also have computers in the lobby). Location is very central and you can walk to many local attractions. Otherwise, I can recommend Johnny, a tuk tuk driver who regularly sits in front of the hotel.
