“Great spot great hotal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2011

Ignore any older reviews on this Hotel... it has been completely refurbished very nicely, is well run and great staff. When booking we selected it for its location aware of some negative reviews that were pre refurbishment but the place was fantastic... a boutique style close to the water front and central Banda town area. Nice restaurant and good breakfast.

When we started to look out for hotels in Brunei, we were put off by every other hotel either because of bad review or exorbitant tariff. Finally, a review of renovated 'Brunei Hotel' on 'Brunei Times' prompted me to give it a try, so I contacted Brunei Hotel's staff Mr Azmil & Ms Lovena. they were very helpful in assisting me with the booking and patiently replied my lengthy mails reg the hotel, its cleanliness & service.

We just stayed @ Brunei Hotel for a night and had booked a 'Superior Room' with an extra bed. The room was good, with a clean shower stall & toilet, besides this, the room had all the necessary stuff like wardrobe, tea/coffee making facility, mini fridge etc...True to their words, the service too was excellent.

They serve complimentary buffet breakfast and as I'm a vegetarian, I made a special request & was provided with yummy veg mee goreng!

Room Tip: Get a room that faces Kamu Kinaggeh

Our brief stay at the Brunei Hotel was pure joy. Attentive staff, smart and trendy design and a good restaurant as well as the central location just opposite the pittoresque open market contributed to the good time we had in Brunei.

Room Tip: opt for deluxe room facing river

It has just been renovationed at begining of this year. Compare the phone which was uploaded before. It is a huge development. I was really enjoyed while I was stay there. Great location , cleaning room. But staff need more traning for local travel information. None of the front desk staff know how to get to the Royal Rgalia. Acctually only 5mins by walk. I finally managed find it by myself.

I have been travel to so many countries and stay in so many hotel before. This time i went to Brunei for a short business trip which i really dissapointed and upset. Bad attitude staff in Brunei Hotel....She dont even know how to smile, i remember one of this front office supervisor show me a bad attitude of serving guest. speaking roughly and didnt explain to me clearly. Most worse she is shouting the other staff in front of a guest!!!! I come to Brunei for business and i pay for my room. I need a friendly and comfort stay. I will never recomend this Hotel to anyone with this kind of bad attitude staff. Please reconsider of staying in this hotel.

Certainly not a 5 star hotel, but Hotel Brunei offers affordable accommodation within walking distances of all of Bandar Seri Begawan's sights. The morning vegetation markets are located immediately across the road and canal, the Brunei Rivers is a short stroll down the road, and the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque and nearby mall are only a 10 min walk (at most) walk away.

The Hotel runs a shuttle service to and from the airport - so that saves a hassle of getting to downtown BSB. Like all Bruneise, the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Admittedly, the hotel is old so the corridor does smell old and the interior shows its age. But the rooms are large, clean and tidy so nothing really to complain about.

The restaurant offers simple English and traditional foods in a very clean environment. The only negative (if it is one) is that during quiet times (we had breakfast with just two other foreigners) the restaurant feels a little strange as its so quiet - there is no background music to make it more relaxing.

A good hotel for someone wanting to stay in the centre of town to be able to enjoy the walk to the local sights.
