We stayed at the Evason Hideaway for 17 nights on our honeymoon.
The resort is really different to every resort I've seen so far. We stayed in a beach villa in the middle of the resorts beach and the first impressions kept awake all the days there: fantastic! Everything is made out of natural materials, even the plastic bottles with water are hidden in also perfectly fitting bags.
It was the first time that we've seen photos of the hotel before which raised many expectations - and they got not only fulfilled but exceeded all expectations.
Once the speedboat has carried you to the half island the resort will raise you a smile, for sure.
I really liked the way the resort presents itself: close to nature. There is luxury of course, but it's somehow different. We stayed in city five star hotels directly before and needed some minutes to realize that this is luxury, too, but somehow different.
Our butler showed us a water villa, a rock villa and the presidential suite. I think all villas have assets and drawbacks. If you like to snorkle I would recommend you a beach or water villa because you cannot get directly into the sea from a rock villa. But you might get the most privacy in a rock villa, but the rock villa are far far away from the main restaurant, even with your bicyles you have (btw. in every villa!). But they told me that they'll build another restaurant on the other side of the bay, to this might turn into an advantage soon. Anyway I liked the beach villas most, even they are the cheapest: you have that open bath room, the nice and savaged garden and direct beach access. The interior in the other villas is quite similar but they are located on one floor while the beach villas have their living room in the upper floor.
The resorts restaurant is really beautiful. On the upper floor you can eat buffet, we tried it only two or three times as the most people went upstairs while the à la carte restaurant in the ground floor was nearly empty, so we enjoyed true privat sphere here, too. They also offer romantic dinner on a terrace build over the water. If you are there with your partner you should really do this! They'll place candles all around the terrace, you have the water under you and the perfect starry sky above you, wonderful! The food is quite good, they offer many different courses, European, American and Vietnamese food. Anyway you might get bored of the food if you stay there as long as we did. The pool restaurant which offers lunch is very beatiful, too. I highly recommend you to check the upper floor, overlooking the resort. The choice of food is really okay here, too. If you like private sphere, you can also eat in your villa for the same price. About the prices: yes, quite expensive for Vietnam. But we've booked full board so we really didn't care about the prices. Softdrinks are a bit too expensive: $4 for a can. Anyway water is free and supplied to your room, dinner and lunch.
The bar is very nice, too. Check out the cocktail list, I think they offered around 40 cocktails and most of them taste very good because of the fresh juice they use. Anyway food and beverage is expensive, but on the other hand it's 5 star and the best holiday resort in Vietnam. If they would be cheap it wouldn't stay that exquisite.
About the stuff: they are extremely friendly, greet you whenever they see you, BUT: they are hardly understandable, most of them don't speek even worse english. We had some annoying problems just because they didn't understood us correct. I think this is the only negative point. But as you spend most of the day relaxing, diving, snorkling, eating, sleeping etc. you can easily live with that.
If you're a diver you should check out the Hon Mun dives. It's an average diving place, not that brilliant as egypt, maledives etc. but if you stay there for a week or so you should try it. The dive masters are very nice, they're english so don't worry about any language problems.
The Spa is very nice. We tried some massages and it's amazing how strong those tiny Vietnamese people are. Visit the restrooms there, they are amazing.
We also did a guided hiking tour in the jungle/mountains behind the resort (it's free). Well, if you're tough and strong it's a nice tour. But it's REALLY exhausting!! Once you reach the top you get indemnified with a very beautiful view!
Last Words:
I really recommend this resort for a stay between 3 and 7 days. You can stay longer there, but you'll start finding some points which are not perfect. And you compare the days. You really shouldn't do that. Enjoy the time there, just relax and love the place. And: this is not Vietnam! If you want to see the country, this is not the place to be. This is a pure lluxury and sunny dream. But if you travel through the country, stay there for some days!
