“Very nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

A very nice hotel. The hotel looks great and the lobby has class. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The pool is also nice. The rooms do vary. We travelled as an extended family and some of the rooms were quite modern with floorboards whilst others had old looking carpet. They need to ensure greater consistency between rooms where people pay the same price. Moreover, we were inconvenienced as the hotel promised us an upgrade after three nights if we downgraded from our booked accommodation for the first three nights. When we moved, the room was much smaller and nothing like what we were expecting. Think there was a major miscommunication somewhere. That was only a minor issue however. The breakfast is very good. Location is okay, right across the road from the beach, but a short taxi ride to where all the restaurants are. All in all, one of the best choices in Nha Trang.

I stayed here for 2 nights in one of the sunrise club rooms. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and friendly. The room was spacious and overlooking the sea and with a luxurious bathroom and comfortable bed. The breakfast was excellent. As we had one of the club rooms we were entitled to free drinks all day....which was a pleasant surprise when we arrived!. I have only 2 points of caution. as the room overlooked the seafront, the traffic noise from below was noticeable all day as the windows are only single glazed. I would imagine this is a potential problem for all the seafront hotels. Secondly, the carpet looked as though there had been a student party the week before and was stained in several places. Small points I know, but when you are after five stars the little things count!

3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013 via mobile

We stayed here for a week in January as part of a 3 centre Vietnam holiday. We had 3 nights in Hanoi at the Intercontinental Westlake, and then went to the Sunrise which was not of the same quality. The room on the 8th floor was clean, had a lovely view from a very private balcony over the sea and we found it very nice to sit out in the evening and watch the world go by. The bed was very comfortable, turn-down service with chocolates was a nice touch, slippers and dressing gowns were provided, and the service was excellent. However the noise from the sea and the traffic along the front was very noticeable. The furniture in the room seemed rather cheap and the bathrooms a little dated. The buffet breakfast was reasonable but not outstanding but offered a varied choice.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

Having considered a number of places in Nha Trang for 3 nights we opted for the Sunrise on the basis of TA reviews. Perhaps we just got unlucky, as the majority of reviews are very favourable, but, based on our "suite", this is a 3 star hotel at best.

To put things into context, we (Mrs Haggis, myself and our two kids aged 10 and 12) stayed here for three nights in mid January. I should also add that my daughter fell mildly ill and myself more so (no fault of the hotel) - therefore we spent more time in the "suite" than we would normally expect to. We stayed in room 903 which was supposed to be the two bedroom executive suite, complete with jacuzzi on the balcony.

Good points:
Hotel looks impressive upon arrival - directly across from a huge beach with impressive, powerful waves crashing.

Stunning lobby and friendly check in.

The views (we were on the 9th floor) were fabulous.

Great roman pool.

Service generally was extremely polite.

Breakfast was great, mostly Asian (obviously) but enough Western options to keep us happy and fed.

Jacuzzi was enjoyable.

Bad points:
Our suite was a disgrace. Having traveled extensively and stayed in many five star hotels this was nowhere near five star standards, indeed three star may be pushing it. The carpet was shocking, stained throughout with stains in the lobby area so bad it would disgrace a backpackers hotel. Even our children suggested keeping our shoes on whilst inside the room.

The furniture, bedding, lights and curtains throughout reminded us of a very dodgy 80's motel. It really was that bad, that basic. Doors on cupboards were mismatched and ill fitting.

The children's room was very basic and generally very poor.

The furniture in the main living area was stained, dirty and with broken arm rests.

The tiny kettle had a plug that didn't fit any sockets in the suite.

The jacuzzi took abut 30 minutes to fill.

The sliding doors to the balcony barely close, with gaps all round. Therefore forget about any noise reduction. Crashing waves (not too bad to be honest), heavy traffic (from 5am) and drunken noise at all times during the night. One local bar (on Saturday night) had incredibly loud karaoke until 11pm.

This was sold to us as a five star executive suite. Other than the view, there was nothing remotely executive or five star about it. Quite disgraceful really. I wish we'd complained at the time but with two of us being under the weather we decided not to.

Maybe other rooms are cleaner and better. This is the first time in a long long time that we felt let down by TA reviews. The hotel (or our rooms to be specific) is not five star. If we got unlucky then I'd suggest avoiding suite 903.

Sadly, the best part was checking out. We're now in a three star hotel in the central highlands which has better furniture, more spacious and just feels cleaner !

This is a very well run hotel. Staff were very friendly and exceedingly helpful. We had a suite whilst our two boys had a standard twin share. Suite was spacious and had a massive spa bath. Boys room had a really good balcony and excellent room. Suite entitled us to free coffee and cakes downstairs which we took advantage of as the cakes were excellent as was the breakfast and food generally here.

Hotel is up the road from the nightlife area which I think is a good thing as it is only a $3 cab fare down the road. Pool area is small but comfortable.

Only scar is that there were a couple of stains on our carpet. Room cleanliness however was immaculate.

Room Tip: Ask for room with balcony and chairs outside to enjoy the view. Make sure you go to 10th floor bar f...

The building is very nice and old fashioned, looks like an old French hotel from the outside. It also has a nice lobby and pool. The staff were also friendly and organised tours and spa treatments etc. even if it was a bit on the pricey side, same for the restaurants and bars. The breakfast buffet had quite a good selection though. On the downside, I would say that our room was quite basic. The air con was old fashioned, ie; built into the wall with no remote control and it was a bit noisy. The carpet was also stained. You also have to cross a dual carriageway to get to the beach, so you definately couldn't class it as a beach resort. We didn't have a bad stay overall but would shop around a bit more next time as there are many good hotels. bars and restaurants nearer to the center and downtown.

We had a large ocean view room complete with a balcony overlooking the pool. Our room was delightful - large and clean. The ocean is across the crazy busy street which was motor bikes careening along at neck breaking speeds. So, if you want to get to the water it can be an adventure. We chose to enjoy the pool. The breakfast buffet is excellent. The price of food and beverages in the hotel is high except for happy hour when you can get selected drinks 2 for 1.
It is a couple of blocks to other restaurants which are reasonable in price. There are a lot of Russian people who come here and there are flights directly from Russian to Nha Trang - so expect of see menus in some places in Russian.
