“What a resort!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013

Brand New resort, beautifull rooms, great service. They're still in soft opening but what a potential.
Very friendly staff, great pools ( SALT and fresh) and ideal for visiting Nha Trang and still relax!
Spa and gym were not open yet. Breakfast is amazing...

This hotel looks fabulous and the service is brilliant. The breakfast is also very nice. HOWEVER... there is still building work going on by the pool which is very noisy, the pools are far too warm and not refreshing, you can't go into the sea easily, we had problems with our air-con and had a powercut in our room whilst getting ready, the shower also had no power. The hotel also lacked atmosphere with no music and the lunch/snacks that we had were not worth the money. We ended up getting the shuttle-bus into Nha Trang most days and then had to pay for a taxi back. In addition, on arrival I had to pay the full amount of the room plus $100 per day deposit. At the end of the holiday they took out the full amount I owed them again and said they will put back the money I put down as a deposit. However, a week later I seemed to have paid over double and not received any money back. Overall, this hotel looks great but many things still need improving. (Fitness centre and tennis courts not open yet..hence the lower price.)

Sorry that you are disappointed and it seems the misunderstanding over your Credit Card is the thing that "tipped you over the edge" .
Yes there is some construction work going on and this unfortunately is due the work not finishing on schedule . I have been informed it will stop within the next few days . However we do inform in advance of this happening.

In relation to the Credit Card : An authorization from the bank is given upon check in ( no debit to the card is done at this stage ) Upon check out this authorization number is used to debit your card . Any amount over the total value of charges should automatically be credited by the bank . The bank has been too slow in doing this and we are talking with them to get their procedures improved so as to serve our guests better and eliminate any misunderstanding that may occur . We apologize for this misunderstanding.
We hope you enjoyed the remainder of your stay in Vietnam.

The resort is 'stand alone' in spite of management. The entry and lobby area create a brilliant first impression. The lobby is an amazing lobby with amazing woodwork. The high ceilings and the views to Nha Trang Bay give us guests a sense of endless space. Then you walk through the lobby and look towards Nha Trang, nestled in front of a mountain range. The siting of the resort is brilliant and it's so close to Nha Trang. The gardens, pools and exteriors designed by the Gary guy, mentioned by other reviewers, are definitely the best in Vietnam.
You could have an idiot running this resort and it would still fill up with guests. At the moment the resort doesn't have a spa or gym.
The GM usually slithers into the breakfast area, in his wheelchair. In absolute stark contrast and in spite of his demeanor staff around the resort are surprisingly friendly and cheerful. Unfortunately the GM seems to sneak a smoke in the restaurant, which isn't a good example for staff, particularly considering the resort is five star and us guests travel to the seaside to get fresh air. The restaurant doesn't have a no smoking sign and the resort is flooded with local Vietnamese. The Vietnamese don't give a rats about victims of passive smoke! So if your room is full of smoke from previous guests or you have guests dumping passive smoke on you at the outlets...tough luck.
However Gulag Amiana tells you what you can't wear in the restaurant. Even although the restaurant is directly beside the pool you can't wear singlets or swimmers into the restaurants. There are signs banning them! It seems a bit ludicrous...smoking has an effect on non smokers health yet it is open slather but as far as attire goes it's back to school, kids. You had better obey the teacher or the Amiana police will politely ask you to leave the restaurant and change! You pay 200-300 dollars for the priviledge of being told how to dress.
When you are peacefully relaxing having your breakfast....SUDDENLY...at about 9.00am the staff jet ski lunatics roar along the water adjoining the restaurant, announcing "hey we have jet skis for hire" (at rip off rates). Along with that you have large trucks dumping rocks and making a huge racket beside the main swimming pool , and which is clearly heard at the restaurant.
At the moment THE RESORT IS A CONSTRUCTION SITE AND WILL BE ONE FOR THE NEXT YEAR OR SO AND THERE IS NOISE OF JACKHAMMERS AND ELECTRIC POWER TOOLS EVERYWHERE. ALSO THERE ARE NUMEROUS WORKERS WANDERING THROUGH THE RESORT AREA INTRUDING UPON OUR PRIVACY.
With no spa, no gym, no library, no tennis the resort is 4 star at best and probably in reality 3 and a half star. THERE IS NOTHING SOFT ABOUT THE PRICES BEING CHARGED FOR SOFT OPENING.
However once you are there, you can avoid being like a towel placed through a wringer with every drop of cash wrung out. The resort has a lot to learn about guest relations. You may be reminded of the 'Munsters' when you meet Jane from guest relations. No idea. It may be good for some of the management show ponies to go to the Oxford Dictionary and find out the true meaning of "guest".Amiana's management definition appears to be "someone we can rip off as much as possible".
You can save the rip offs on the following:-

Amiana Restaurant, expensive and tiny tiny portions. -Tip.Next door to the resort are 4 great restaurants with delicious and fresh food. The resort has a shuttle regularly going to the city. You can eat at about a quarter of the price of Amiana at hundreds of options.
Amiana spa, is way overpriced ($65) and just a massage in a room .There is no spa yetl
Tip-10 mins by taxi is I-Resort which is an international standard hot springs. It costs $5 for all day use of their hot mineral water swimming pools, mineral water showers, toilet and changing areas etc. They have an excellent spa and massages are reasonable. Also Nha Trang has numerous cheap spas outside of the 5 star hotels.
Amiana tours, off the planet expensive-especially 4 island tour which is a farce.
Tip. Book a tour in the city for somewhere between a fifth and a tenth of the price of an Amiana one.
Gulag Amiana charges corkage at a rip off rate if you bring a bottle of wine into the resort.
Tip. Hide your drinks in a backpack or carry bag. Maybe the Gulag guards will not inspect if they are busy.
Amiana laundry. You can buy a brand new tee shirt for the saje price they charge to clean it.
Tip. Either throw in the rubbish (if it costs the same as Amiana laundry price) or go to one of the many laundries in the city.
Amiana transfers are expensive.
Tip. Take a taxi for a fixed rate. Ask a few drivers around the Nha Trang Centre, where the Amiana shuttle drops you off.

Room Tip: Forget about paying extra for "beachfront" rooms. The "beach" is not real. It is...

I think people reading this review will take it for what it is worth and read between the lines and realize that it is written "out of spite".
Your comment that the resort could be run successfully by " an idiot " . Then if that's correct, then I know this gardener guy, who fits the bill perfectly .

The resort was very peaceful, quiet, clean and safe. The bed and pillows were very comfortable which gave me a great sleep. Coffee was available all day in my room. I love the fresh fruit juice in every morning. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I had a lot of fun and photos with my team at the saltwater pool, so beautiful. I really enjoy to stay at Amiana where I can get away from the noise, stress and be myself.
I will come back very soon. :))

4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013 via mobile

Our visit to Amiana was for 4 nights in August. Group of 4 adults. On check in we decided to upgrade to an Ocean View Villa as the Deluxe Rooms we were allocated looked into the stone wall of the rooms in front. The deluxe rooms are lovely and there are a few that have ocean view but it really is the luck of the draw. It cost us an extra 40 USD. This made the Ocean View Villas 230USD net per night.

ROOMS
The Villa was lovely, amenities top notch, lovely outside bathroom, double vanity in bathroom, cleaning done well everyday, although on the first day our rooms where not cleaned until 4.30pm and we left them empty with please clean my room sign up at 9.00am. Our only other issue was we had trouble having tea, sugar, water replenished in our rooms.

NOISE ISSUES
The Resort is advertising soft opening with some limited facilities. Spa and Gym which didn't bother us, however if we had known there would be ongoing construction going on during our stay we would not have picked this Hotel. We had construction starting next to us and behind us at 7.00am each morning. In front of the fresh water pool they are constructing a jetty so intermittently through out the day the jack hammer is operating. If you sit at the large saltwater pool there is work going on behind (Spa I think). To the right a excavator works all day along with a dump truck dumping rocks to make a area for another restaurant.

FACILITIES & RESTAURANT
Food was just lovely good value and very tasty, we ate lunch and breakfast everyday at the Resort and dinner twice, the only complaint we had was we didn't think the seafood buffet although a reasonable $25 AUD was good value.

STAFF
The staff were smiling always willing to help, we had a couple of things we didn't like. My husband and friend brought some beer in Nha Trang to have in our room and on the way through the lobby they were told by one of the reception staff, that outside beverages will attract a corkage charge. They explained that it was for consumption in their rooms, he made a phone call and came back and said no you have to pay 91USD. At this stage they walked off. My husband went back and spoke with Jane (Font Office Director) and was informed it was a misunderstanding.

My husband was also told one morning that he could not wear a singlet top in the restaurant, as this is there only dinning option at the moment overlooks the pool sun loungers and is quite casual this seems ridiculous. During our stay we saw ladies siting in the Restaurant just in bathers, also people consuming their own drinks and food at the pool......

OVERALL
We enjoyed our stay and the Resort will be stunning when completed, however we certainly would not have paid USD 230 if we had know how non tranquil our stay we be. If you get rooms in the middle of the Resort you will be safe from the construction noise early in the morning but you won't get any peace at either pools for a good many months.

IN CLOSING
The Amiana markets it self as 5 star and I am sure they will be one day in the future, but they are not quite there yet. Things like complementary ice water around the pool, fruit platter etc is what we expect and certainly have had when paying a lot less. We did receive a cool towel and iced drink one day out of the four that we stayed.

We appreciate your comments and are very happy, apart from a few issues, that you enjoyed your stay with us .
Yes we are in our soft opening period and yes there is some noise around the resort from time to time , but this is getting less, day by day .
Our business partners have been given 'Special Soft Opening Rates " and they have also been informed that they MUST tell guests that its soft opening and construction in some areas is still ongoing . We are not keeping this a secret as its also mentioned here on TripAdvisor both on guest reviews and also my replies.
Yes we also have a Dress Code during the main dining hours in Bacaro and this is done for the benefit of all guests . I'm sure you will understand why !!
Thanks again for the review and most pleased that you see the real potential that Amiana holds .

Nha Trang city is what it is... a busy, bustling, vibrant seaside town. Municipal beaches, hoards of tourists, many domestic and plenty from the colder reaches of the former eastern bloc characterise the town. Just up the road, Amiana offers the opposite. Peace, tranquility, privacy and calm on a delightful part of the bay.

Although newly opened the place has plenty of soul and warmth and the staff seem to genuinely care that you made the trip. the smiles are sometimes nervous, but always genuine and we appreciated that more than anything during our short stay.

The villas are very well thought out, with a tasteful al fresco bathing area and distinct living and sleeping areas.

The food was nothing short of spectacular. A very original dining concept, well executed and delivered with just the right level of Latin passion!

Overall, thoroughly recommended.

This place is amazing, perfect get away. Want to stay a little longer but can't change my flight so got to say goodbye to this awesome resort. Anyone visiting Nhà Trắng mudt come to this place. Personally I like this place better than vinpearl land resort. But I'm trying Six Sense next time hope it's as nice ad this place.
