I arrived at the Light Hotel for a 2 night stay quite late at night after negotiating a price over the phone. I was given a Superior sea view room for VND 1 400 000 (advertised rate = 1 600 000). On first glance the room was fine. However, later I noticed a few things that given the price were pretty unsatisfactory particularly when compared to the price and standard of rooms in other Nha Trang Hotels. First I noticed there was some used towels left in the bathtub, probably, I guessed an oversight from the cleaning staff – no deal breaker. Next I looked out at the sea view. On the non accessible balcony there was a water tank right in front of the window which effectively took away from much of the enjoyment of the view. Finally there was the noise. This room was right next to service? elevators which were very noisy (both the elevator and the staff using them) and used continuously from the early hours of the morning. In addition, there seemed to be continuous slamming of doors perhaps from the floors above too. The doors to the rooms were difficult to close so I think guests or cleaning staff were slamming them. I’m not a light sleeper so I think most people would find it difficult to sleep through. Early that morning I requested a room change and was offered a suite for VND 1 800 000. This was much cheaper than the advertised rate of VND 2 900 00 so I accepted it. Strangely (or not) I was asked to pay the extra immediately and the original balance on exit. This room was on one of the top floors and really quite nice, although it could do with a revamp like the rest of the hotel. It had great sea views and a little balcony. The air-conditioning was not the best (vent system). The room was quiet both from internal and external noise. The hotel is not too far from the main tourist area and across the road from the Louisiane Brew house. The pool was nice, small but adequate and had an area suitable for small kids. The Light Spa I was told is not affiliated with the hotel and that I should go elsewhere. I went to find it and the male employee at the spa desk seemed to be confused why I was there. I got the impression that it doesn't offer spa treatments for the ladies anymore. I know there are people concerned regarding the amount of Russian tourists in Nha Trang but I did not find this an issue at all either this time or on other trips I have taken this year. There were a number of Russian guests but they behaved as any other guest and were certainly not the majority. That said, there did not seem to be that many guests at all at the time of my visit. I chose this hotel because I wanted to kick back after my travels in a beachside hotel with a pool. For this you pay much more than in the main tourist area. I would not stay here in the superior room again at all nor in the suite if I had to pay full price.

Very well located right across from a good section of the main beach that offered proximity to seaside activities and to restaurants and bars for beach meals and drinks, as well as beach chairs and sunshades. The only problem was crossing the road as the traffic was relentless and never stopped for pedestrians so you had to be patient and look for the gaps to weave through. Having said that, all hotels in Nha Trang are located on the other side of the road to the beach. In my mind this was a decent mid to high end 3 star hotel although we had the top floor VIP suite for our 9 night stay, which was massive and very comfortable for this level of hotel. The staff were always accommodating and very keen to help. The hotel had an acceptable pool but this was hardly ever used by anyone as the beach was so close and there was a better pool at the Louisiane Brew House beach restaurant immediately opposite. The amenities were limited in comparison to top-end hotels but then this wasn't a 5-star resort, so you would expect that to be the case. The coffee shop restaurant offered surprisingly good local meals and snacks but we mostly ate out in the many other excellent restaurants around town. It could have benefitted from staying open beyond the closing time of 10pm or 11pm dependant on the number of people there. Breakfast closed at 9.30am so this might not suit those having a very late night and wanting to come in just before 10am or later as is norm in many other hotels. Also breakfast was probably geared a little bit too much to local tastes, and perhaps Russian tastes, so it would certainly benefit from being a little more international in it's offering. However it was just about adequate. A couple of additional comments I'd add to help improve things would be fresh milk for breakfast and a proper toaster rather the a mini oven which just heated and dried any bread placed into it but kept it the same colour! Also butter or a margarine spread would have been welcomed. Overall a fairly decent hotel, improved by very supportive friendly staff located in a better position than most of the international hotels in Nha Trang. If you want fairly good value in a great location, then this is certainly an option to provide you with it. If you want higher end luxury, additional food and recreational facilities there are several other hotels offering those benefits.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms facing North up the beach are the best, particularly located at the corner of the hot...

Had read mixed reviews but took the chanced and satyed here. I was pleasently suprised of the size of the Superior room with the 2 double beds.
The staff were very helpful and nothing was a issue for them.
Also suprised at the breakfast considering the price of the hotel - enough to start the day!
Had a pool that you could dip in every day after walking the streets.

Directly opposite the beach which was very clean and as the sun set the locals would set up tarps on the sand and you could get freshly cooked seafood delivered to your mat on the sand with a cold beer for $1usd.

Room Tip: Ask for a north facing beach room - great viwe up to the city and the coastline

Great location - just across the beach. Close to the center and shopping / entertainment areas. The rooms are just okay. Breakfast is usually a big commotion. One set of guests have breakfast and it is all gone by the the next set arrives - WAIT.

I'm not even going to bother writing about other meals there.

They have a decent pool - pity it isn't located near the reception considering the number of people who trip and fall at the entrance step......

This hotel offered a spacious extended room for 4' with 2 double rooms & a roll-away. The accommodations were nice with a fine view of the beach which is directly across the street. It is within easy walking distance of a tourist area packed with restaurants and shops. Its location is convenient for walking on the beach at night. The rate-included buffet breakfast was tasty and what I expect from a 3-star hotel. Altogether it was a pleasant 3 night stay-over traveling between
Da Nang and Saigon. Staff were friendly and helpful; rate was quite competitive. Recommended.

We had an ocean view suite on the 8th floor, which really wasn't much larger than a standard room. The furniture and furnishings are a little out of date - dark timber and drapes that were falling apart, however the view was fabulous. The level of service was substandard around the pool and cafe. The front desk staff were very helpful though. The buffet breakfast was fairly ordinary with little choice and most of the restaurant staff were next to useless.

Room Tip: Ocean view

Hi,
It was nearly two years since we stayed at The Light in Nha Trang now. We were there in March 2011, but I never got around to write a review. We were not that impressed by the hotel. I can't really remember how much we paid, but I guess the price was ok. The location of the hotel is good and we had a nice view of the coast line and beach and basically the room had everything you needed. But the hotel was a bit worn down and not very charming. Breakfast was not very good, the dining room was crowded most of the mornings and they were always out of something. Coffee was really bad. If I would go to Nha Trang again I would try a different hotel.
