“Great hotel in Hue”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2012

Very professional, friendly staff, although some speak/understand minimal english. Room was excellently appointed, extremely clean and staff helpful. Best breakfast we had in our 14 day stay in Vietnam. Mini bar quite expensive though compared to other hotels we stayed in. Not in as central a position as some other hotels but still an easy walk to river. Small restaurant/bar next door to hotel is a great spot to sit and soak up local atmosphere - good food & friendly proprietor. Well worth a stay here.

We spent 4 nights at the Camellia Hotel. The room was quite large and very comfortable and the location was very convenient. The restaurant just around the corner, Hanh, was some of the best food we had in Hue! The staff was helpful, friendly and accommodating (though there was a really weird interaction at the end where they were going to hold us back because they thought we stole the shoe horn... of all things, the shoe horn? i offered to pay them right then and there since we needed to leave, but ultimately they dropped it). They brought up a DVD player upon our request and also provided great recommendations for where to eat. The rooms, while very comfortable, did have a few signs of wear and tear that prevent this from a 5 star review (the shower curtain had a bit of mildew on it, minor other little things) but ultimately, this was a terrific value and we'd definitely stay here again.

We stayed in the Camellia in October 2012 for 2 nights. When we arrived, the hotel staff were great – very friendly and offered us a cool drink on arrival. The hotel room was clean and comfortable. The internet was fast and we also received a tasty fruit platter every day of our stay. The tour information desk was very helpful and informative. The breakfast was decent and lots of choice! Our room included a computer which was handy! If you choose a more standard room without a computer, there are computers in the lobby with free internet. The location of the hotel was close to major restaurant strip – only a short walk. Overall, the position of the Camellia was quite good.

We will definitely be staying in the Camellia again if we return to Hue.

Room Tip: Try and select a room with a balcony and up high. The view is quite nice!

Spent two nights recently in the Camellia Hotel whilst on a short trip to Hue - great room and facilities and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. If you are a foodie, then the buffet breakfast is a must do here and the view from the top floor while eating is panoramic. There is also a small restaurant next door on Ben Nghe Street with a friendly proprietor, top cheap food and cold beer!!

We enjoyed our rooms and location of Camellia Hue hotel so much. Staffs here tried to work and make our meet on time. Rooms on high floors were a high point, easy to get amazing view of city. Breakfast was not bad and enough for us, of course they had buffet as well. Hue city was small, we took only some hours to get around to the the old town, some old houses and the atmosphere of old houses are boutique, ancient as well.We stayed here for 3nights and came back Hanoi to stay for one more night after taking the flight to Madrid

(We paid 80 dollar for two nights)

staff is great, helpful - they got some personnel who speak fluently English, just to ensure us of their good intentions.
yes the swimming pool is small, can't deny that. but the rooms are spacious, nicely kept and with all the things one can need (we had an Deluxe Sky View room)

it is central in the little town of Hue, not far from the Imperial Palace, and close by some nice restaurants and the river.

I have never, in my whole life, seen a breakfast as here. Six tables packed with food, you name it and they had it. really incredible. that alone is reason I believe

3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2012

During my trip to Vietnam I stayed in a couple 3* hotels which were much nicer than this 4*, which is a little tattered and in need of some freshening up. It has a good central location, attentive and very helpful staff and spacious rooms (I stayed in a suite). However, I expected a bit more considering it is a 4*. The pool is quite small, the first room I was given did not meet my cleanliness expectations (however, I was changed with the best predisposition) and I had a misunderstanding with the driver sent by the hotel, whose English was very poor and charged me when he should not have. Again, the hotel staff solved this diligently and with the best attitude.
