The Green Hotel in Hue was absolutely fine. We booked it the day before we arrived via Hostelbookers.com and our reservation was picked up fine by the staff, unlike other places we stayed in Vietnam.
Location – about 70 metres from Hue train station, but a good 20-30 minutes walk from the sights of the Citadel and the eastern end of Le Loi where the majority of shops, bars and restaurants are. This is the main reason I have rated this hotel as average as we found it just a bit too far out to be convenient, especially as it rained solidly for all 4 days we were in Hue!
Staff – were all really friendly and we had an especially lovely waitress in the restaurant called Mai who really livened up our stay.
Facilities – The restaurant has a huge choice of foods and happily catered for my fiancée who is vegan cooking meals for her especially.
Rooms – nice big rooms, we were upgraded from a Deluxe to a Deluxe Plus (I am not sure what the difference was) for free which was nice of them. Shower was hot and powerful, but like a number of places we stayed in Vietnam the area surrounding the bath did not drain into the bath, but onto the floor. Not a huge problem as there was a drain in the floor (again standard practice) but not what I would expect from a 4 star place really. When we arrived the room smelt a bit damp, but by the end of our stay we decided that it was pretty unavoidable as it had been raining solidly for a few weeks before we arrived and once we had experienced 4 days of it we could see how hard it would be to keep unoccupied rooms smelling fresh without being able to open any windows!
Price – a little high I thought, the rooms were fine, but probably not 4 star standard, I think there are probably better places to stay in Hue at a similar or lower prices and situated closer to town.
