“very good choice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2011

It was warm and sunny for the two days of our stay at Imperial hotel . We also noted the room was very clean and well-looked after, My husband and me went up to the Top Bar because we were told that it is the highest bar with river view and the best location to see the city below… Yeah it’s true, and the staff are always around to attend to any request..
The restaurants were excellent, in particular the breakfast restaurant as told in previous comment, great choice of Western, Asian and Vietnamese foods … Overall, It would be very hard to find a hotel with the same calibre of service and quality anywhere else in the world unless you are willing to pay bucketloads.. So it is definitely worth a stay in this hotel

Room Tip: swimming pool on the third floor is very nice

This is not something I normally do but in posting this review, I would like to show our appreciation to all the staff for making our short stay at the Imperial hotel an exceptionally enjoyable experience. I really appreciated the most was the staff, they were genuine with their help, like they really cared. The city is great with many shops and restaurants, and very quaint historic town. Went to Citadel, Tuduc tomb by boat and car as well, definitely worth the trip.. The rooms were lovely, comfortable beds with great river and city view in front, facilities were very nice… You won't be disappointed if you choose to stay there Imperial hotel

Room Tip: clean and beautiful river

We only stayed at the Imperial Hotel for one night and we were quite happy with it. At first, it reminded me of those Chinese hotels in the old old days where the entry is this huge grand lobby with a little outdated, disgruntled look. So that first impression was not that great. Nowadays, you look for hotels that are sleek and modern. Well, this hotel didn't give you that impression but nonetheless, quite a great hotel to stay in. The lobby does not impress but the room, the pool and especially the breakfast did.

The room was quite spacious. Since there were 4 of us (3 adults + 1 child), we got the Deluxe City View room with a queen size bed for $85 and added the extra bed for $40. All in all, not really cheap for Vietnam standard, but reasonable for this 5 Star hotel. Other Western 5 star hotels will charge $50 for the extra bed. The bed was comfy and the shower was a bit outdated but water pressure was strong. We tried the pool and it's located on the 5th floor (I believe) so you are able to see a nice view of Hue from there, along with some office buildings that are close enough that workers can watch you swim. My son thoroughly enjoyed the pool and we were there by ourselves most of our swim.

Note that this hotel does not have non-smoking floor so be sure to ask for a non smoking room. We were given a smoking room first but they moved us to a non-smoking room right after we realized it. The staff were very accomodating and nice.

The best thing about this hotel is the Breakfast Buffet. There were a great selection of food: pastries, cereal, congee, hot noodle (pho or bun bo), tons of in seasonal fruits, the usual western fare like scrambled eggs, sausages, crepes, pancakes, etc... Basically, everything you would want for breakfast is there. The breakfast buffet was the best breakfast we had in Vietnam. It came with the room rate so made it even sweeter... My son had a field day eating there since he was getting a bit tired of eating pho for breakfast.

I do recommend staying in this hotel, not only for the breakfast buffet, but also for its location. It is located in the center of town so you can walk around and there are tons of restaurants within walking distance. Right down the street, we had a 60 min foot massage for 90,000 dong. It was a great way to end the stay in Hue.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights and were surprised on arrival at how quiet it was.
The pool on the fourth floor was very nice, surrounded with city view and it is really gorgeous and great place to soak up under the sun. The staff is very well trained, very polite and courteous; though most of them could not communicate well in English like other hotels in Vietnam due to some may lack the fluency in foreign languages but they largely make up for it with their prompt response to any request and their willingness pleaseus us much… The breakfast were all good with Western style, Asian food and Vietnamese style dishes..but the thing I like most here is the room and the bar on the tiop with great city, river view, and the city is the peace, beauty and relaxation.

Room Tip: local food is very nice pan cake, spring roll

We had a wonderful experience at this hotel. We have done quite a few vacations in Asia and this was a highlight. City is beautiful and there was plenty to do, with 15 minutes only from the airport. Room is nice with ancient decoration, we felt we got a great combination of luxury and culture. The service was excellent. We were especially impressed by the Top Bar view, Breakfast buffet, we also enjoyed a dinner at the on-site restaurant .,, an overall lovely experience.
We would definitely consider doing this relax again!!

Travelling a lot will help you understand more the cultural of your destination because seeing is believing, and I could say that often these type of hotels the staff tend to go about their business in the way they know they should, rather than how they would like. Here people was truly interested in helping you and it is very refreshing especially people at the lobby. From the moment we arrived we were met with good service. The girl in long dress cloth (its traditional dress one in this city, and very nice and charm) who checked us in explained all necessary information for us in the very friendly way. In fact, we haven't left the hotel at time of writing but I have to say this is a impressive hotel. We are Australian but are living and working in Singapore and we have stayed in a number of 5 star hotels in Asia but this one feels a little more special. Somehow it is more personal. We enjoyed 2 spa treatments it’s Vietnamese massage and this was good quality and relaxing. The prices are similiar to a normal place in Asia well worth the money if you are not afraid to venture into the truly Vietnam…a few minutes walks to the beautiful River, Truong Tein bridge and The Dongba markets which are fantastic to see the real Vietnamese.
Breakfast was as good as we expected for 5 star hotels and the choice was more than plenty... Something for everyone so nothing to complain about here. It is definitely worth a stay in this hotel, but be careful when you eat out of the hotel (avoid shellfish or local restaurants if your not used to that sort of hygiene). I got to go. ..good bye!

Have fun!

Room Tip: very beautiful and nice view from high floor room
