“Great hotel, noisy location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2013

The hotel is new and very clean and shiny, the rooms are spacious, the breakfast was excellent, the staff were very helpful (particularly the doormen) and the spa was also good. My only problem really was noise. We were on the 12th floor, just below the restaurant. This meant that from about 5.30am there were scraping of chairs and people moving around above our room, getting the space ready for breakfast. I left a comment on their review slip about this when we left and they emailed me back the same day to apologise, it wasn't bad enough for us to ask to change rooms, just an annoyance. I don't think the hotel has particularly good soundproofing (none of our hotels in Vietnam did really!). The location is good if you want to be in the tourist area, but we didn't realise it would be so noisy and backpacker-y at night, even being on the 12th floor we could hear music from a bar on the ground. If noise doesn't bother you then this hotel is perfect, it really did tick all the other boxes for us...if it does bother you then don't stay on the 12th floor! (or maybe find a hotel in a slightly quieter area).

I have an aunt, she lives in Canada. Last summer, she came back Vietnam to make a project. She had stayed in Moonlight hotel. She is grumpy and perfectionism but she had been satisfied to the hotel 's service and staff ' s behavior that is so profession and attentive. Beside, hotel is located in the center city, the foreigner street. The room is clean anytime. This hotel so good.

We stayed here for 3 nights in October and as well as a great location and great services the stand-out point was the friendliness and service of the staff. Thanks to all for a great trip. Especially good were the doormen who were very helpful in all aspects of the city..

My son and I stayed at this hotel and were greeted by a welcome sign, incredible courtesy, refreshing drinks and a great room. The hotel is quiet but in the best location for restaurants. It is about a 15 minute walk to the Citadel which is the best way to approach the Citadel anyway.
The doorman, Hung, is a real treasure !!!

Arrived by a direct shuttle from da nang which the hotel organised. Nice wee touch was having our names on a tv screen on entry!

Central location, great staff, excellent choice for breakfast!

Nice views of the river.

We booked this hotel on Agoda and had no issues with friendliness of staff, room cleanliness. However, a couple of things...we were booked into the 6th floor. This seemed to be a staging area for housekeeping for the entire hotel. At 0500 every morning the mop buckets would come out, and the housekeepers would get ready for a busy day at work. This translates to some VERY early mornings. We are early risers, but by our third morning the slamming of the mop bucket handle was too much to take. I politely asked the young man in question if he was aware it was 0530 in the morning? Later, upon check out, a face cloth was 'missing'...a fact that was announced across the lobby of the hotel to me while my husband was waiting in the private car we had booked to catch our flight. A very odd circumstance given I hadn't helped myself to ANYTHING other than the free water in the room. I am unsure if this was payback by the young man with the mop bucket-had he been offended and felt that I called him out unfairly? The concept of face in Vietnamese culture comes into play here. I have no idea really. It was mortifying, and poorly handled, and the young lady at the front desk told me "don't worry, I trust you." Then why embarrass me in the lobby?
I don't give harsh reviews lightly, and quite frankly this may have been an odd one off circumstance, but my bottom line is this: for $32 a night, this place is s steal...except on the 6th floor, where sleeping past 6am is next to impossible. And frankly, with the vast number of hotels in the city whose staff understand that sleep is important to travellers, I would give this one a pass.

Room Tip: I wouldn't book a room on the 6th floor if you wish to sleep to a reasonable time in the morning...

MoonlightHue, Manager at Moonlight Hotel Hue, responded to this review, December 15, 2013
Dear our valued guest,

Thank you for staying with us at Moonlight Hotel Hue and for posting your review. Your positive comments are sincerely appreciated. We are very sorry that the man in our housekeeping team caused an issue and you are right, we can control their actions. We will do a better job of not disturbing our guests so early in the morning. For your next booking, you can simply announce that you prefer another floor and we will oblige you with pleasure. During your stay, please do not hesitate to contact the front desk, we will immediately find a solution.

As for the missing face cloth at the time of checkout, this is an unfortunate situation. Once the housekeeper reports an incident like this, protocol is to inform and charge the guest given some thing that was missing. However, we are sorry if this was communicated to you in a way that caused embarrassment.

Thank you again for your feedback and we do hope we will have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the near future.

On behalf of Hotel Management Team,
Ho Dien Huong
Assistant Sales Manager

We stayed in a river view room for 2 nights on our honeymoon. We were greeted with a special welcome sign, a happy honeymoon cake, flowers and cranes on the bed as well as a warm bath with floating rose petals. The staff are super friendly and will do anything to help. Our room was clean, the king bed was very comfortable and the air con worked well. The wifi was good in our room but intermittent when closer to the bathroom. The breakfast buffet is fantastic, a wide variety of food and the best omelette I have had in our 2 weeks travelling Vietnam. Hotel is very close to the DMZ Bar and many other bars and restaurants as well as convenience stores. A great stay!
