“Hotel Saigon Morin Hue”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

An old hotel beautifully restored, built in 1901 in the old French tradition.A beautiful building with excellent facilities, the bedroom was what you would expect from a 5 star hotel. The buffet breakfast was great as was the very large swimming pool. A massage only cost $12.50 for a full hour.
The location of the hotel was the best in town, right in the centre & across the road from the bridge to the other side of the river. All restaurants were within a 5 to 10 minute walk.
There was also an excellent outside garden area where there was entertainment & meals also served there. We had breakfast there also.

I've stayed at two Hotels in the Saigon chain. Given my experience at both of these I wish I'd paid that little bit extra and stayed at more. These hotels are in the process of being gradually upgraded and renewed. Some of the comments made about them, like a little tired and in need of a make-over written in guide books are possibly a little out of date. However if one combined all the good features of both hotels one would get a hotel that provided everything one would accept as natural in a five star international hotel circa 1980 plus good and free internet. If one conflated the not quite so good aspects one would get a just makes the four star category circa 2010.

Overall the Saigon Morin would rate as a very good four star hotel with an exceptionally efficient and helpful staff. The wifi was good and fast and the breakfast buffet very very good indeed. The internal courtyard served at both the forum for breakfast and an evening restaurant, where one can dine with both elegance, gusto and live vietnamese court music … a real plus not only for those who like that sort of thing.

The rooms were well appointed and the location superb. It was within walking distance of both the palace and the back-packer area with more lively the bars and banana pancakes than I would care to shake my stick at, unless I needed a stiff workout. It is also within walking distance of the major market. This place fulfils the traditions of the Morin hotel, which has some serious history including a visit from someone not too fancifully claimed as West Bromwich's most famous son.

I recently spent three days at this wonderful hotel. Once part of Hue University the hotel itself was the scene of a large battle between the US Marines and NVA. The rooms were generous, clean and very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and accomodating. Great buffet breakfasts in the central courtyard and a cool pool to return to at the end of a very hot day. The day spa is a great way to end the day.

a good welcome from the staff. A lovely spacious room and bathroom with shower and bath, 2 beds. Air con was good. Fridge, safe and complimentary fruit if you asked. The pool was nice and supplied towels. BF very good, a good choice of everything and dinner. They have a spa which is very reasonable, which most of our party used. The net is not free, but you get a drink and cake when using it. Handy for walking around town or along the river front. Staff all very helpful. enjoyed my stay.

This is a beautiful, French colonial hotel on the banks of the Perfume River. The history of the hotel is amazing and the photographs on the walls of the corridors only add to this. The rooms here are very large and elegant - something from a movie, really. The internal courtyard is especially beautiful at night and I would recommend taking part in any of the hotel barbeques or dinner buffets if they are available. The restaurant directly opposite the hotel is wonderful for lunch or dinner and we found the breakfasts at the hotel very nice. Really can't complain about this place at all. It was beautiful.

Room Tip: For a great view, the best rooms in the hotel are the corner rooms facing the bridge.

The hotel is located just across the road from the Hue night markets. The reception staff are lovely and helpful. The rooms are spacious as is the bathroom. The rooms are clean and the hotel overall is well-kept. Breakfasts are outdoors which is great, bower the special buffet dinner one night was a little disappoint. Advertised as 30+ food but not really that exiting. But other than that, the stay here for us was wonderful.

The hotel is built on the banks of the Perfumed River, overlooking the site of the nightmarket. It is in a perfect position to wander into Hue, take a dragon boat, or cross the bridge to the busy indoor markets. The hotel is beautifully decorated and my room and bathroom were really spacious. There was a good choice of breakfast dishes and in fine weather, it was served in a shady courtyard. Most staff were so helpful and I have only marked it down because I was erroneously charged for taking a soda from the minibar. I then had to sit for 10 minutes, completely ignored, until I could get the contents re-checked.
