Read the reviews - checked out the website - was pretty much hooked on going with these guys - emailed Mr Top and received a very prompt reply - had the loosest of details from my end but was accommodated so so well. Arrived in Hue maybe an hour late - as soon as my girlfriend and I got off the train and exited Tim was there - a flurry of activity and no complaints or comments about our lateness and we were on our way.

All our stuff was wrapped up and looked after and we headed off on the back of the bikes already buzzing about it all. We stopped off on a little lay by where we had some snacks, some coffee and it was clear, just 45mins in, that we were with chatty, friendly and informed locals who cared about what we were doing and we're ready to answer all sorts of questions with a real knowledge that we could appreciate.

Alon the way we could stop regularly, either to take in something or to stretch our legs (or for me, to lose that numb-bum feeling) - I can't praise these guys strongly enough - there should be some ULTIMATE RATING that sets them beyond the parameters of the rating system in place because they provided me and my girlfriend with the best experience of our trip and we are into our last of three months away and have been lucky enough to enjoy some great trips and tours along the way.

I don't normally gush but I can't overstate how great the time was.

Accommodation was lovely, in an area that wouldn't maybe be deemed interesting but due to the company we shared and the info we were given we dandered around and probably felt our most 'connected' with a small Vietnamese village than we could have thought possible. And I make no apologies if that sounds off or a bit OTT.

We packed in a lot but it never felt like we were rushed - a bike affords you that much in terms if hopping on and off and the relaxed approach meant we never felt obliged to stay longer or leave sooner than we might have liked.

We had spells of bad weather - heavy rain, but, no surprises, our guys pulled over and we all suited up in waterproofs and, honestly, it was just so much fun.

Food wise - all good - if you're one of those annoying fussies or vegans etc - unfortunately they will only too happily accommodate you - my girl and I happily left them to it and had some of the nicest food we've had in over 3weeks in Vietnam.

Our trip ended in Hoi An - sadly - Tim and Tan dropped us off at a tailors they recommended - no pressure though - we ended up getting some bits and bobs and befriended the lady - took recommendations for a new hotel (our one on the first night wasn't great) which was just lovely and much cheaper and took more recommendations for food which was awesome too - it was such a great experience and we have the ladies details now as a result and will be in contact in the future.

They dropped us off to the hotel before we said goodbye and we were keen, whilst checking in, to make sure we said goodbye properly and saw them off, still buzzing and a little sad to see them go and , with them, the end of our trip.

Book them - and book them for longer than we did.

“Really really fun and safe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

I figured 78 "excellent" reviews and one "very good" was a pretty good indication of what sort of trip this would be. We were in Hue and were trying to work out the best way of getting to Hoi An...the options were train, bus, private car or motorcycle and after reading the tripadvisor reviews we thought we'd give the motorcycle option a go in spite of my wife's reticence about safety issues. So we're contacted Top by email and he promptly replied, turned up on time the next day with a beaming smile and a personality to match and introduced us to his equally charming older brother Tan. They wrapped and lashed our 20kg back backs onto the back of the bikes and off we went at 9.30 am in the direction of Hoi An. We mixed and mingled with the made veitnamese traffic, the schools of motor scooters and bikes that flow down the main roads, we were rut in amongst it all and loving every minute. I always felt safe with these guys, in fact I have to say we both felt strangely more safe o the backof a motorcycle than in one of those large red buses that hurtle down the highway. Most of the time you don't get much above 40kmph and even at the fastes speeds we never got above 60kmph on the highway. The entire time we were with Top and Tan you could tell that our safety and welfare was a priority. During the trip they took us to a really interesting fishing village that tourists would not normally see, although it was a very brief stop. Then a swim at elephant falls, which was really refreshing and lunch at a restaurant, again no tourists, which was fantastic and cheap. Up over the pass and down to danang. We arrived about 4pm in hoi an and delivered safely to our hotel. We had a ball. It's the very best way to travel in veitnam. Top is a charming lad and speaks pretty good English. He and his brother were fun, had a great sense of humour and very much deserve their number one ranking!! Can't recommend them more highly.

“Don't hesitate”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

Okay so I am usually a bit of a chicken and didnt even want to get on a bus in Vietnam. So the thought of sitting on the back of a motorbike (not a scooter) from Hue to Hoi An was a little daunting. However, these guys are so great. They are delightful company - two brothers Top and Tan. We went slowly and steadily and I felt so trusting of their riding skills. Hai Van pass is a little scary but i reckon safer than a bus. It's the only way to see vietnam in my view. We stopped at a small fishing village which wasnt so exciting but the swim and the elephant water hole was gorgeous. I learned so much from them. Then we stopped for seafood lunch at a restaurant with the most incredible view. What a location! they rode us all the way to our hotel in Hoi An. Whatever you do in Vietnam do not miss this and DO NOT miss Hoi An!!!

“Brilliant tour-thanks so much”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013 via mobile

We booked a day tour from Hue to Hoi An and really really loved this trip. We were three in our group and had a wonderful time travelling with Mr Top and two of his friends. We stopped at a variety of sights including a fishing village, temple with a fab view, elephant waterfall, beach in Da Nang,...just to mention some! Also felt really safe riding with those guys so thanks again. Our only regret is not having booked a two or three day trip.

“Same, same, but Better!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013 via mobile

My girlfriend and I have been traveling for a month through Vietnam, and we got stuck in Hue due to the Lunar New Year business. I have to say that afterwards we're very glad we did get stuck, cause otherwise we wouldn't have walked into Mr. Top's place. We gently discussed the possibilities for a 3 day trip ending in Hoi An. Different than the other motorbike tour guide mr. Top had a much more pleasant and less forcing approach. We decided in the evening we would do it, and add another day. So a 4 day trip it would be! The price may be quite a bit more than your average day budget, and that may scare you off. But we can really say now that it is real value for money, and if you do the math it's a great deal too!

Mr. Top and Mr. Tim have always been more than on time with everything, without putting any time pressure on us. Their English is good, but their mood and jokes make it even better! Being on the back of the bikes feels really safe, and it's great to wear sturdy helmets for a change. But most pleasant is to feel how Top and Tim handle responsibly. They never drive too fast, and handle the more dangerous situations on the road - like old ladies crossing the street right in front of the bike - with experience and without breaking a sweat. At the end of the day they go to bed early, and don't get drunk like we've seen with some other guide on the way.

Last and maybe most importantly is where they take you. When they take you to the touristic sites it seemed they took us around the busier times, and we mostly had the place to ourselves. And when they say they'll take you to a waterfall to swim, it is actually a zero tourism waterfall you'll climb to from the road. It was perfect. Both waterfalls. :)

When we we're on the back of the bike it often feels like soaring through the mountainous landscape the way birds do. Like everyone here says; do not hesitate and go for it. We hope we've also made you understand why. These guys are real!
