“Great Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

We had a great time at the Ana Mandara. the food was great and the room was fantastic.
we were going to upgrade but the standard room was excellent so didnt feel the need.
the pool was lovely and the staff were really friendly and couldnt do enough for you.
we stayed during Typhoon Nari which all the staff dealt with amazingly, my only critiscism would be that the pool had to be emptied due to the sand from the Typhoon which was fair enough but was refilled using 2 hosepipes which took 3 days. the sea was rough and we kept getting told to get out by the life guard, which was a shame as when on holiday it is really helpful if you can cool off. would definetly stay again.

Dear spikethebudgie2013
Thank you for taking the time to give your kind comments on 22nd Oct, 2013… your high compliment about food, room, friendly staff make us very happy… our apologies to you about the swimming pool problem in slowly refilling the water after the Nari typhoon during your staying with us. I do agree with you that at least we need to have big pipe pumping water like fire extinguishing water gun.. again thank you for your helpful comment.
We are very happy knowing that you will visit us again...surely we shall have no stone unturned to provide you with the most beautiful, comfortable rooms, delightful cuisine, personal attention..and swimming pool must be in good condition that you have a right to demand this time.

Best regards,

We booked 3 beach villas for our group this September! We were met at the airport in Danang but the GM and sales manager...it was a welcome sight after a long day from Halong bay! Cold water and cold cloths were much needed! Our villas were amazing...they all looked straight out to the ocean...great outdoor seating to sit and watch the waves crashing and listen to the ocean! We unfortunately had Horrendous weather and were pretty much stuck at the hotel for the entire 3 days as it was a torrential downpour with winds up to 60 km/h! But that said...it was amazing to watch. The breakfast was the best I have had in a hotel and was included with the room. Ask for a latte or espresso as opposed to the stuff in the pots! There was endless choices for the breakfast and all of them were good! We only ate in the one restaurant as the weather was so poor, but you were able to order off of the 2nd restaurant menu no matter where you were actually dining. The food was great and staff were very helpful.
The only things of note would be the shuttle to and from town...double check you have booked going and return as they do not simply go...there has to be a booking! And, considering the hotel is so far from Hue, they would benefit more from a gift shop as opposed to a boutique...ie if you forgot to pack something or wanted a book or snack...you were out of luck as the boutique sells only clothes and scarves. My biggest pet peeve however was .....for a 5 star room/hotel in a coffee exporting country, why why do they put cheap sachets of nescafe in the rooms? They need to upgrade to a plunger or something better then a 3 in 1 pouch!
Out door shower was AMAZING
We also went to the spa, but the english was lacking and therefore so were the explanations. I have no idea if I got the facial I asked for and in all truth I did not notice a difference. I went with my mother, sister in law and mother in law and they put us all in shared rooms (paired off) there was no problem, but sometimes a little privacy goes a long way!

Room Tip: Get a beach front villa!

Dear Anne,
Greetings from Ana Mandara Hue and thank you for taking the time to give your kind comments on September 25th, 2013.
It was so great to see your family at Da nang Airport, and very happy also to know that you like our Beach villa, breakfast, spa a lot even though you had Horrendous weather during your stay here. I’m very proud of our staff because many guest give high compliment about them. We also had noted of your outlining relating to shuttle bus, café in room (it is surely need to be upgraded to meet the same standard of other at the luxury resort), poor English communication at Spa (we will have long standing English teacher to develop level of English, not only for Spa staff but for all hotel staffs also).
Dear Anne, thank you very much for let us know this thing and we do hope to see you again in beautiful day (not the same last time), of course, we are delighted to give you free upgrade rooms, nice Spa and personal attention that you have a right to demand this time…give my best wishes and thank you to your family for me also.
Best regards,

We stayed here for 6 nights and wished we had been able to stay longer. Upon arrival we were upgraded to a Beach Villa which was absolutely fantastic with huge bathroom including outdoor shower, lounge/seating area and your own private patio overlooking the beach. We ate at the hotel most evenings and found the food to be excellent and priced very reasonably. The price of beer was also reasonable (for a hotel). The staff are also very welcoming and are clearly working very hard on their English language skills. We had a massage at the spa on 2 occasions which was excellent, I only wished I had gone for another one or two! I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel.

This resort was Divine apart from there being nothing around it. This was the only problem with this resort fabulous pool and beach but that was all . There is no shopping or restaurants near by unless you want to catch the shuttle in to the town 30mins away. The staff are wonderfully. They all speak English and are very helpful. The only thing i disliked was that people come to have their wedding photos at the pool and in the grounds. This make me feel uncomfortable as they would take over the pool and you felt unable to use the pool with them there as you didn't want to spoil their photos. This was the same in the grounds you had to wait until they finished or try and find a way around them. I was even pushed by one photographer as I was trying to walk behind him to go past. They where having between 2 to 4 weddings per day. A part from that the hotel is beautiful and recommended.

Dear glynishe
Thank you for taking the time to give your kind comments on 20th September, 2013. My team of staffs was very happy to hear that you like our Resort a lot, beach area around, my staff ,. However, it was a little sad to have known that wedding shooting group in the garden around the Resort made your stay uncomfortable, we had already noted this problem and will find solution for it ( We will limit people go together with wedding couple come into resort ‘s shooting area, not allow them to go around except wedding couple and photographer only).Dear glynishe, your comment is very important with us and we do hope to see you again in Ana Mandara Hue soon.

We had had 3 days exploring the citadel, tombs and pagodas in the city of Hue and were wanting a complete chill out for 4 days before the end of our trip and our return to the hustle and bustle of city life. A friend suggested the Ana Mandara which is about 20 minutes by road from the city, we couldn’t have wanted for better.

We were picked up on time as arranged at 1:30pm outside the landmark DMZ Bar in Hue city and driven to the resort, the drive was actually only about 15 minutes as there was no traffic, and the villages you pass through with views across rice paddies to the mountains in the distance were actually quite picturesque.

Upon arrival at the resort were greeted with a cool refreshment, checked in swiftly, and shown to our Beach Villa #168 set amongst the beautiful lush gardens. They had already turned on the air-conditioning and pulled back the curtains in our villa, showing the few of the South China Sea, prior to our arrival which I thought was a nice touch. After a quick brief on the room and its facilities we were left to relax. I was so impressed with the room I didn’t even stop to unpack before taking pictures.

The Bedroom, with King bed, opened onto a terrace containing 2 sun lounges under an umbrella, there was another sitting area with a couple chairs and a table located on the terrace outside the Lounge room as well, both had 180 degree views of the beach yet were still privately screened from other nearby villas. The lounge was of good size to relax on and there was a well appointed desk area for me to place my laptop.
The Bathroom was superb, with a large area to hang and place clothes as well as a dressing area. It also had a freestanding bathtub, and both an indoor plus an outdoor shower area in a bamboo garden! It was simply divine. Fresh fruit plates were delivered to the room each day.
Breakfast, which was included, was excellent with substantial choice for Asian, European and Australian/American style breakfasts. The dining area overlooked the extensive pool area which was always a very pleasant place to have breakfast.

When we felt like exploring the local villages there were bicycles available free of charge, or as we did most mornings, you could take a dawn walk along the beach to the local fishing village, or to the main beach area of Thuan An. When sitting on the beach front at night it was astounding to watch the hundreds of little fishing boats with their lights on bobbing up and down on the water.
Above all, it was the friendliness of the staff that makes this resort excellent. From the check-in staff, to the housemaids, breakfast chef who’d cook your eggs anyway you wished, to the staff at the pool bar who made us iced teas when it wasn’t on the menu, nothing was ever too much trouble, and they always called us by name and smiled with a “hello, how are you? – or, how was your day?”

We loved this resort and given the opportunity would definitely return.

Room Tip: Beach front villas are divine, preferred option would be, when facing North, those to the left side...
