“Clean hotel with helpful staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013

We highly recommend the Hue Thuong. The hotel has been relatively recently renovated and looks fresh. It is very evident that cleaning and cleanliness are very important and the rooms reflect this. Our room - a family one with two double beds, was very spacious and well equipped. The fridge is stocked with drinks that are priced the same or near to 'street' prices. Breakfast is not included, but the hotel has a good menu - we did not bother to go elsewhere. We stayed on the third floor - there is no lift, but that was not a problem at all. Staff are very friendly and respond quickly to any requests. The Hue Thuong represents excellent value for money and we would certainly stay here again.

Room Tip: If you can afford a family room - go for it. They are considerably bigger than double rooms and well...

Nice hotel with very friendly staff and good service. Our room was on the backside of the hotel so it was quiet in the morning. Rooms were clean. The prices of the mini bar were the same as in the shops near by. Good breakfast. We definitely recommend the hotel.

We pre-booked this hotel since we were afraid of not having accommodation in Hue as it was peak season. We found this gem by reading the Lonely Planet. It was in a good central location.

The only problem we encountered was that the receptionist had allocated our $16 per night room (1 double bed) to other guests. She offered us the $25 per night room (2 x double bed) for $20 cause of the mistake, which was very sweet.

Breakfast is not included. However you can eat there and inexpensive breakfast meal is added to your bill. If you do decide to eat there... ask for 'Hue soup' which is the famous local dish 'Bun Bo Hue'. Sadly we only found this out on the last day!

The room was enormous, clean, and sanitised thoroughly. The shower was powerful and had unlimited hot water. We were also surprised by the cheap price of bottled water in the bar fridge. It was 1.5L Aquafina that cost 10,000 VND. Bargain! However the wifi was not reliable on the third level but that was partly due to the rainy weather. Thankfully there are desktops in the reception area.

The receptionist was very sweet. She helped us book a tour of the tombs and citadel that was reasonably priced. She also helped us book private car service to the airport and the hotel staff stood by the door to see us off. Overall the hotel delivered in all aspects and it was very good value.

We were late arriving at this hotel and the staff were waiting outside for us with a smile on their face, nothing was too much trouble. We stayed two nights and this was a great location very handy for the Citadel, central Hue and loads of nice food places. The room was clean and comfortable although the bed was a little hard (as is the normal in Vietnam). The shower was good but the hot water was a bit sporadic, however it was more than enough for a quick shower. We paid $18 and this was excellent value for money in this lovely little hotel.

We stayed here for 2 nights. The room was small yes but the finish was more than adequate for the $12 we paid. We got a hot shower but didn't need to aircon as it was cold weather. There is a reasonably priced mini bar and tv too with English channels. The hotel is close to some restaurants and about 15 minute walk from the citedal. Overall nice place with friendly staff who packed us off with fruit and water for our night bus to Hanoi.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

I've been living in Vietnam for 8 months and I'm spending a week in Hue over the New Year break. This hotel was recommended by a local friend. It's well priced and central to everything.

The staff are friendly and speak pretty good English. The rooms are clean and comfortable. I arrived at 5.30am and was taken to a double room. I'd booked a single but it wasn't free at the time. The double was lovely, but more than I needed as a single traveller. It had a nice big bath with high-pressure, hot water. I'm now in a single room. It's a bit cramped compared to the other, but perfectly adequate for my needs. The bath is much smaller and has less pressure. FYI: High pressure, hot water is my "thing" in Vietnam. I always seem to miss out on getting it! :)

The staff helped find me a driver (xe om; motorbike taxi) who speaks enough English for us to get by. I use Google translate to confirm details if necessary. Delightful young man who stays with me, even though I tell him I'll call when I need a return trip.

I received a rose from the hotel staff for New Years Eve. Nice touch.
