“no heat, very damp”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2011

We were here in the shoulder season and the hotel (or at least the room we stayed in) is not equipped for guests until summer weather arrives. It had been raining for a couple days before we arrived and the room was incredibly humid. We arrived and were cold (outside temperature was 15C) in the room. Tried to get the AC/multi unit to heat the room but no heat feature was available. We asked at desk and they said that it was only AC and there wasn't any heat function. In the summer this might be fine, but I'm sure for 5-6 months, maybe even more, completely unacceptable.

We had all of our laundry done by the hotel and they took one day longer than they said they would, causing us to wear dirty clothes an extra day. Laundry and room service fees they tried to charge were different from the prices listed in the book in the hotel room.

Room was large and clean, tub/shower was good. Price was cheap but without breakfast value is debatable.

Internet didn't work in the mornings.

My friends and I originally planned to stay at the hue backpackers hostel. Lucky for us they were booked up and referred us here. The place is great, clean, and the staff and family that owns it are great. Our bikes needed fixing and it was during Tet so much was closed. We spent a week here with long days in their courtyard working on our bikes and making a mess and loud noises. they never complained, and in some ways encouraged us. I took a cooking class nearby and the next day the mother asked me to cook for her. They are such sweet people and run a great hotel. Also, the girl who works in the morning is not just beautiful, but also knows a lot about Hue.

The hotel is centrally located, and though it is in the backpacker district it's also close enough to get everywhere else whether by foot or bike.

We paid $12 per night for a large double room, with tv, air con and attached hot water shower and toilet. This was slightly more than we’d usually pay, but it was well worth the extra few dollars. Our room had a huge window, making it very light and airey, and we were on the third floor, giving us a good view across the city. It was a bit noisy at night, but that’s the price you pay for having a front facing room and staying in the middle of the “backpacker district”.
We found the room very clean other than under the furniture where a cockroach appeared to be living. The staff were very apologetic when we pointed this out and attempted to help us catch it by chasing it around the room with a can of mosquito spray (?!?) We managed to catch and remove it ourselves in the end – a fairly painless experience, for us at least!
The staff arranged our onward travel for us (sleeper bus tickets to Ninh Binh) at a competitive price compared to other nearby travel agents.
